I respect Daniel as a poker player and as a person. I have no problem with anybody speaking their mind.

Well, I'd usually agree with you and say "Sure, let anyone say whatever they want to say." But, he's a sponsored player, he represents Pokerstars the largest online poker site. From one poker professional to another, being disrespectful is awfully tacky.

This might be true and as has been observed above, if he thought it was an on the record conversation (assuming you believe his claims to the contrary) he probably would've chosen different words.

I honestly don't think it'll hurt him or pokerstars though - given it's an opinion that a lot of people in the target market hold themselves it could actually be positive.

Negreanu has tweeted that his latest blog is all about his use of the 'c' word. The blog link doesn't work atm but when it does i'll post it up.

I used to like DN but now he seems to me just a little annoying. I dont care for tv coverage of his game. I cant stand AD either.

That being said I cant argue with the fact they are both excellent players.

Wait a second. So most people don't really care about Negreanu's intention and most, in fact, actually agree with it, but do have a big problem with the particular word he chose to express his thought. I can't understand that. I have to bring my buddy George Carlin to the discussion (watch from minute 46):
http://www.guba.com/watch/3000028405/George-Carlin-Doin-it-Again-1990

I doesn't matter which words are used, only what Negreanu meant. If you have a problem with what he meant, then fine. If you don't, don't get all offended just because he used the c-word instead of "bitch" or something even lighter. I, personally, don't see any difference. It's the context and the intention of the person who uses the word that matters. Actually, can someone please explain to me why do the c-word and the word "bitch" have totally different levels of acceptance if they're basically synonyms? It's one of those things that don't make much sense in today's society yet nobody seems to question them.

Does it matter if he's a sponsered player or not? "Tacky" as it may have been, at least he's honest about his views. This "politically correct, touchy feely" bullshit has to stop sometime. Way to actually say what's on his mind, and not some garbage PC line.

I agree freedom of speech is everyone's right. He spoke his mind and was probably tilted. We've all been there, so it's understandable.

Daniel Negreanu and Pokerstars are huge names and won't be adversely affected by it (if at all). But, still when you're making comments like that to the public you damage your reputation. I for one up until the info in this thread, thought he was a very level headed guy and could handle the suck outs, bad plays, bad players, etc without comments such as above. But, you learn something new everyday.

Negreanu for Prime Minister! You can just tell Annie is a bitch by the way she acts at the poker table and on the Apprentice.

He's been doing it for years. Nothing new, just another name this time.

Maybe its a cultural thing, but the last time I said the "c" word in female company i was almost kicked out of the bar. That was after I called someone a shithead and a fukcer for annoying me, and was't even filnched at.

So yea, don't quite know, Americans are quite crazy at the best of times, but maybe a little more tact.

I dont think it is acceptable in any culture with the exception of close friends digging at each other.

Nit picking ftl.
Actually his point has some merit. The c-word has a strong negative social tolerance in the US, but not so much in some countries like the UK/Scotland. Not positive about canada, but they do tend to lean more European on many cultural things, and maybe this is one of them. In the UK, even men call each other that word.

Well, where I live in the bush in northern Ontario, the C word flies most of the time. Usually the only people who get offended are the the poeple who really are C's and know it. lol

Annie may well be seen as a bitch to a lot who know her. People use the word "bitch" all the time, and mean it as quite derogatory, but it's a widely accepted term. When someone pulls the trigger on the "C" word, they know it's the worst thing they can say. no turning back. It implies extreme hatred. Daniel must be at that point with her. Personally, I don't think Annie deserves that "title".
