in mases of humans with potential in this "industry" they force them to do what they want! if the poker will be legalized there wil be chaos...
and my opinion is about from a contry with 23mil peoples where it can't have laws for poker. why? because an idiot senator have his own pokerroom and he cannot buy the licence for it for a long time :)) . and they f other potential webroom to come the players on his one. but they are not like the bees....they just want to find the perfect place. and untill then pokerstars is "Wel"... on this subject are a lots of things to talk!

re

Whether casinos will take a hit or not, there is no reason to stop people from playing Poker. People can play other gambling games and then there is the argument that poker is a game of skill.

But denying online poker is a denial of freedom and choice

well said and agreed

Sooner than later I hope, I am 3 hours for a casino. A site where they have state online championships that would be amazing.

The Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, is a notorious law in the US online poker community. Contrary to the mistaken opinion still held by many, the UIGEA did not make playing online poker a crime. In fact, the law doesn't have any direct impact on those who simply play poker online from the US

Wrong!

It has the direct impact of preventing us from moving real money to or from ANY poker site. It does it via rules/laws that effect Banks. It must have carve outs tho, for NJ, NV, and DE to have real money OLP.

the carveout is that the sites in those states are not 'unlawful internet gaming" so UIGEA doesn't apply

UIGEA was an enforcement tool that allowed the DoJ to reach sites outside its jurisdiction by seizing and forcing forfeiture of their money

offering internet poker is illegal in most states, which makes it against federal law (IGBA, wire act is irrelevant) which is why UIGEA applies to the current crop of US facing sites

@anthony: there is almost no chance that the good old online poker days will come back to the United States
at least not in the next 30 years, because politics is too slow and many other reasons
and intra state poker is a joke (homegames with very bad software)

Online poker is not yet legalized soon, as it will not control the flow of the power of money, and it is not acceptable for them

Guess that the odds that poker will be legalized in all countrys are close to zero, because of the fact that there is no comunication over something like this between all lands. It is possible that forexample it will be legalised in land A for 20 years but after that it will be ilegale again.

Recently in Russia are getting harder and harder to play online poker . At the request of the CPS Internet service providers block poker sites . Moreover, the CPS recently sent out letters to banks and payment systems letters not to accept the money on gambling . As it starts to get annoying . What right have they to it ? Isn't that invasion of privacy ?

Bro its really easy :D all u american poker players have to do, is set couple of senators and congress man and women cars on fire, that will get their attention, trust me :D, and just in case that doesnt do it, keep setting those cars on fire, till they UNDERSTAND they are not out of reach to the "ordinary people" let me put it as plain and simple as i can say it, THOSE C UNTS ARE NOT AFRAID OF YOU, SO THEY DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT(i should say, they are doing what ever makes them money or will make them money) once u put some fear in to them, see how fast things change :D coz i know gathering votes and signs, calling your representative will never work, coz of the reason stated above, and thats how u will have poker again in `merica "land of the free home of the brave" yeah right, that turned out to be a joke too :D

Wait what???? Online gambling and poker illegal in murica? Whoa!
Well, if it is so, it will be legal as soon as head of Murica finally realizes that poker is not gambling but skills.

We have no collection of signatures or protests are unlikely to help . In Russia people are still inert , passive. And members words well, very correct , in fact alas all the way around . Soon another election so promise , well, anything . Even something that is obviously impossible . I think after the election it will only get worse .

This could be more a rant threat than an original thread, but it'll take sometime. Just like the legality of marijuana, poker will take sometime to become legal so wait around 5+ years.

Wow, I didn't know it was illegal, what a hypocrite society we live in, it gives me so much anger to see our liberty so reduce by some politicians that only say what the majority wants, it even doesn't have to make sense, if the people support it, disgusting

It will surely be a long process until online gambling becomes legal.

I am now convinced.

If we want government protection, via sensible legislation, we must be willing, nay, eager to pay for it. That means we will have to voluntarily cough up more rake, or fees. I don't think we can handle that.

We have a better shot at sneaking a carve-out for OLP into the UIGEA. And I doubt that will ever happen.

:(

Supposedly online poker is banned in Russia, yet they are everywhere...
Is the Kremlin weaker than Washington, I thought the opposite would be true when policing and penalising their citizens.
