The dust has hardly settled after the previous quirks of the Finnish Parliament, and now in the beginning of the election year politicians are taking new positions on online gambling.

The Finnish tabloid Iltasanomat (Finnish link) published an article on Wednesday how the Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero a member of the Social Democratic Party is changing her opinion on gambling licences. According to Iltasanomat it was only three and a half years ago when Paatero still supported the position of finland's sole gambling provider Veikkaus which controls all gambling related games in the country. At that time she strongly opposed the license based model.

Now the opinions are changing drastically and even Veikkaus itself is starting to change its view after seeing a steep decline in its online related gambling.

According to Paatero following and learning from the steps that our western neighbour sweden has taken on online gambling might provide a solution for the future.

Of course all of this is highly speculative at this moment. The next Parliament elections are held in the beginning of April, and no-one really knows what is expected after that.

I am attracted to high quality games that are appreciated by other players.
