The Stars Group has been hit with a €400,000 ($438,000) fine by Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), after PokerStars was found to have been operating in the Netherlands without a license.

According to KSA officials, The Stars Group was allowing Dutch players to access PokerStarseu despite the fact that it claimed that the Netherlands was a banned jurisdiction.

Stars Group Slapped with €400K Fine for Operating in Netherlands Without License

Ok. This then makes a little more sense why they would state they would be cutting jobs. They said it was "regulations" when they should have said "massive fines". ;)

Still doesn't answer my question though: Why do you need some 500 employees at their Isle of Man compound and WHAT are these people doing all day (customer support)? :D

How does something like this even happen. There's no way it was an accident. They probably figured they could make more money off letting them play than the fine would be when they got caught, so why not? I dunno.

I look at the problem from the other side. The PokerStars tried to help players from the Netherlands who wanted to play.

It is normal to be fined for breaking the law, but I do not understand why at their level they compromise on such things ?!
