That is very nice of him. My only problem with him is his stance and lobbying efforts to keep online poker illegal in the states. Well and the tournaments that the prize pool doesn't increase when they meet or pass the guarantee at his Venetian Casino.

You are not alone with your thoughts there, Joe. I never understood why they wouldn't try to create their own online poker or casino site - or participate/invest in existing sites? There is still money to be made the way I see it.

But, on the humanitarian side, you have to admire (on some level) how he looks after his people - after all, the front line (so to speak) is making him his billions!

You can bet he is not doing it with his heart. I do not doubt for a moment he will get reimbursed by some government hand out for keeping his employees on the payroll.

I would hope not.

But, we do know of the millions he has contributed to the Republican party, too, right?!

Wait a minute.... 10.000 employees were paid their salaries for two months ??? By Sheldon Adelson ???????...... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....Ok , now I am sure , I will be using this as an extra argument , starting now , that the next day for total uplifting of the restrictions is very close , this is a pretty clears sign for me that things begin to go to normality , that very soon casinos will reopen , maybe most other businesses , maybe in 1 , 2 months at the worst case :) There are signs worldwide of such a thing happening in the near future imo , but also this Adelosn move , LOL ..

. If Adelson had info that this lockdown would last 1 year or more , he wouldn't pay them for two months , then leave them the rest months without salary , that would seem very bad . ofcourse the possibility to pay them all months if this crisis lasts for 1year or more like 2 years , is close to zero for a guy like him , lol . Not that he doesn't have enough money , lol

10.000 employees , let's say everyone gets $1.000 on average (ofcourse in reality less or far less money I guess;)....) ..
Sooooo ...10.000x$1.000x2months equals to ....$20.000.000 or what ???
And his fortune is $31.2 Billions ???
IS this 0.06% ofhis fortune or what ??? LOL ....
HHmmmmm .... I guess he is not in danger of applying for bankruptcy because of his ''philanthropic'' decisions'' due to these corona virus times , if he goes on with these decisions to help his employees in the future , lol.

10.000 saved , that's good , besides my sarcasm and irony , no doubt ..
But besides that .....I can't forget .....Too many have lost their jobs , too many millions have lost too much money or lost their greatest income , because of his fight against online poker and casinos , and the successfulness of his and his supporters lobbyist co-billionaires buddies ' hateful campaigns ........ Just saying ....

***EDIT #1 :

Btw ... Also , let's take into consideration any help in millions of dollars he might have gotten this year by congress as a help for his business due to corona virus , the same for many other businesses of other people , also any other extra money he got for his businesses as a state help for other reasons , rich people like him have too many connections , they get too much support in millions of dollars , despite having profitable businesses ;) Let's not be fooled

So this 0.06% of his fortune might actually be 0.00000% of his fortune or actually with this state help he might have minimised very much the losses of profits by his casinos for these two-three months , so he might not even have any loss , thanks to his buddies and his connections , when other casino owners are not so lucky like him , they might still have losses despite state help .....

It’s not only the right thing to do — it’s good business

You can bet he is not doing it with his heart. I do not doubt for a moment he will get reimbursed by some government hand out for keeping his employees on the payroll.

Well I hope his business taps into whatever grants and loans they are eligible for.

“It’s not only the right thing to do — it’s good business,” he said.

This makes a lot of sense.

1. Adelson knows that his business is a "people" business. Gotta take care of people. Even their tips? That is fantastic really.

2. It's good business. Las Vegas Sands will be ready to open their doors as soon as they are allowed to. Most employees will be there and ready to work on day 1.
