Ramón Colillas, the Spanish Chris Moneymaker, has joined the pokerstars team expanding the horizons of his incredible journey from physical trainer to billionaire after beating the PokerStars No Limit Hold'em (PSPC) championship that the poker giant celebrated the past January in the Bahamas. Now, the Catalan becomes ambassador of the brand for the biggest poker company in the world.

''Spanish Chris Moneymaker'' ???? Isn't this an exaggeration ??

Ramon Colillas didn't pay for the buy in $25,000 for PSPC or for a satellite for the event (among with others who won the platinum pass) , so he didn't have anything to lose in contrast to others who had invested all this money . He played completely fearless .

Ofcourse he won a big tournament and now he has millions of dollars in live earnings .Everyone would like to achieve sth like that one day (especially for free:))

But is he qualified enough to represent as an embassador a great poker room like Pokerstars , definetely no . He has to show more of his capabilities , pay and play the stakes that other poker pros play in and have a good winrate in order to be accepted by the great masses of poker funs as a good skilled player , an example for the grinders , sb who is able to give advice and teach regs or novice players .

Like Moneymaker is a good poker in the modern day poker.
Tell me the last time moneymaker won a big tourney? While he did craft a path in the world of poker there are way too many better players right now who'd outplay him.
Ramon played really well at the pspc

That was to be expected. Do not take advantage of such a beautiful story just stupid. It is worth noting that at the PSPС final table, he showed modern poker, taking into account all the trends of the game.

My impression is that soon Pokerstars will remove the "Stars" and change your name to "Poker Something" to highlight your moment and show the general public your new phase, because it's a joke what's happening.

I didn't even know about him, the best player with 10 left was Pedro Padilha.

I just believe pspc 2019 tournament is not to be taken seriously into further consideration and apreciation .
I mean giving away for free 1/3 of the tickets of the whole tournament (and some in rediculus contests/challenges , most of whose winners (almost all) were busted early giving away easily their chips/stacks which means sth;) ) ..... well pspc was not a normal tournament by all means :) If those 300 had won their seat , let's say via a satellite and not for free (even if some of them won their entrance not because of a silly contest but because they won a tournament ) , then I would say that this was a serious major tournament , not a setup poker festival by Pokerstars , and the 1st winner 's victory would have been much too appreciated and important imo .

Again Colillas played well and won ( I have congratulated him on this victory) , but I don't believe it means sth more for the poker world .

Now , I agree with you that Moneymaker hasn't won a big tournament since then or that his results are not so interesting/satisfying . But we praise him most of all for another reason .Moneymaker's wsop victory was another story not to be compared with Colillas case . WSOP meant a lot then (the great majority of the participants were serious pros) and Chris Moneymaker's winning was an example to follow for all poker players (regs or novice) . It was a revolution for poker world and it changed everything . Furthermore he bought his satellite entrance ticket haha :D (even if he did it (played this sat) by mistake cause he wanted to play sothing else , if I remember correct a video of him that I watched some months ago :) ) Different era , another story . Colillas winning hasn't changed anything in the poker world .

So choose Colillas for an embassador just because of this victory , imo a bit overrated .They rushed to make him a team online (then again PS the last months has dismissed so easily so many valued pros that poker fans really loved , keeping many who are not (so) good or (un)important . Let's see for how many months they will keep Ramon in their poker pro ranks , cause PS either doesn't appreciate winning pros or it goes for cheap grinder options . Shouldn't being a pro team member mean sth more ?? )

Time will prove me wrong ?? Who knows :)

Glad to hear pokerstars picked him up. I will have to start looking into him. Hopefully he lives up to the Money Maker Moniker .

I fully share your point of view. He definitely does not deserve this title. Yes, his story is wonderful and he went a long way, but judging by the level of his game, he does not pull on a Moneymaker. Especially if you take into account how much pressure a person experiences by investing his 25k and it is quite another thing when you get platinum pass and life is good! It's just a great story for marketers at Pokerstars.

Of course they made him brand ambassador, why wouldn't they. His story is perfect. An unknown poker player wins $5 million dollars through a platinum pass.It gives every unknown poker player out there hope that this can be achieved.

Spanish Chris Moneymaker indeed!!
