I'm not into virtual reality, I've only played to some kind of 3D poker environments like the PRK room, but from the first videos I saw, I find the whole thing quite dizzy and cluttered.

Of course for the players who actually play the game with the proper VR headsets (and how many of them will be? We are talking about an investment of at least 400$, so in the beginning it will only attract a very limited audience) it may be different.

Anyway, I prefer the classic poker playing environment as we have it right now.

I think it's an attempt from Pokerstars to create an "advanced PKR", but IMO they push the thing far too ahead too early.

I would like just the launch of an improved 3D poker environment like PKR (which I liked it very much).

But we will see.....

Quite right. Looking at the screenshots in the article, I also thought that I see PKR in front of me. Yes, virtual reality is something different, not the 3D that was already in the deceased PKR. But I doubt that it will be useful. Expensive entertainment for a couple of evenings. Try playing a few hours of a solid tournament in such glasses! This is a pretty load on the eyesight, and all for the sake of seeing painted characters that still do not look like real people. Their gestures and facial expressions do not give any information, because this is not a real game with live players. A game for several tables at once - will require very considerable power from your computer (even PKR had a limit of 1 table in this mode).

As a result, this is an interesting innovation, which will require significant expenses from both the PokerStars development side and the players' use. I doubt that these investments will pay off.

Looks like they try to get the old PKR players back to the tables....
I prefer simple poker clients but I think these 3D approaches are interesting because from my experience with PKR they attract a weaker field of opponents and have fewer pro grinders...

I don’t see this catching on, maybe many many years down the road when everyone has easy access to VR platforms, but I don’t see people going out to buy one just to play poker.

Cheers

I have a friend that has a good virtual reality set up. He is a programmer and invested in a fairly expensive set up. The possibilities are endless. It will probably take about two to five more years for the tech to be cheap enough for enough people to play. I wouldn't pass judgement on using virtual reality for poker based on this initial version. One of the games I tried had a part called walk the plank. I got in an elevator that took me to the top floor of a skyscraper. The door opened and there was a plank to walk like on a pirate ship. I could hear the wind. My friend made it more realistic by placing a 2x4 on the real floor to step on. I could tap the floor in real life where there was just air from the skyscraper. But I literally broke out in a sweat and couldn't make myself walk the plank. I knew it wasn't real. But it was way different than a normal video game. The possibilities of virtual reality are amazing.

I would love to try the new technologies of the poker room, I love pokerstars and have been playing it since 2009, but I will not give up on new technologies.
