I think Pokerstars has a chance of succeeding in the USA but I don't think the path to get there will be an easy one. A certain casino owner who has apparently influenced past government decisions isn't going to go away so Pstars needs to navigate the roadblocks that will no doubt appear.

A favourable decision from the DOJ is only a first tiny step. If everything ends up at the state level Pstars may find it a lot of work dealing with multiple state jurisdictions with rules and taxes. I suspect Pstars will be forced to pick and choose the states they want to deal with and that is where the pitfalls may lie. Other operators will watch and learn and may scoop a state that Pstars ignored and find they have a good market there.

One thing is for sure.....the US market will be huge. Pokerstars won't be able to resist jumping in if the opportunity arises. It could end up being a quagmire of differing tax structures, myriad rules, and varying law enforcement approaches across multiple states so it won't be a business venture for the faint-hearted.

If poker becomes legal PS will crush it. They will be by far the most popular site. Mostly because of name recognition, but also because they have the resources and experience to make it work on a large scale. And the track record. Even when Black Friday hit, they eventually made all their payouts, which a lot of others didn't.

Everyone keeps saying that that USA legalization and Pokerstars is a match made in heaven. The States that have legalized online poker are not seeing the numbers they would like on the bottom line.

I had just checked out the article on the front page . When corporate at Ceasers doesn't know the legality of the climate they are operating in, when it comes to pooling players from other states into wsop.com. how can this be a solid market to invest in?

As states come online (if they do) it's possible name recognition alone will assure them initial success. It might be the only site name the pre-black Friday rec players will find familiar. They were so huge, even way back when.

Hi! And do the Americans themselves? The survey was carried out? Or did you perform on TV shows, speaking for online Poker for money? Anyone stood up? I think soon it will be resolved and the whole world will have access to online poker for money! The main thing is not to deceive people! I understand the US has banned PokerStars due to the fact that they cheated their customers! It's true! And if this is not true then I will only be happy! As soon as stop deceiving everywhere will allow! Simply no one can stand up for deception!

I hope PS comes back to the US. I remember them from before online poker got outlawed and loved playing their site. As an attorney, I fight for civil rights and against laws that restrict our God-given and Constitutional rights, One of those is the right to privacy and be let alone from government interference . That is really what is at stake here. As the government grows more powerful, they find ways to regulate and dictate every aspect of our lives. We allow this to happen by electing people who want to grow government and restrict freedom but the other issue is that we have agencies deciding what a law means And courts that let them get away with it. We all need to stand together to defend our rights, whether it be free speech, poker, or whatever.

Will Poker Stars succeed in the USA

First it wont be easy for them to get a foot thru the door with Adelson standing in the way. It will take quite some time for them to get in all states if that. Legislation is slow to allow them back in. It will take a long amount of time. But will happen eventually. Maybe by 2024 most states will allow it , but I don't think all of states will. There will be some who will be against it I am sure for the long run.
PokerStars has proved that liquidity sharing in at least one part of the world can be profitable after setting new records in France, Spain and Portugal. Hopefully, the USA can experience the same level of success at some point!

I certainly hope so. With unrestricted access to the US market, there would be a huge increase in the player pool. That must be good for the online game.

PokerStars in the US is a thing in New Jersey at the moment which has alone given them a decent amount of success but with that PokerStars also signed a deal with a line of casinos(you can get the name online) which grants them rights in about 10 other states so hopefully in the next year or two a lot more people should be able to play in the US. Bigger picture though there is really no way for PokerStars to fail in the US unless it completely destroys its product.

I think that sooner or later, PokerStars will still give its services to US citizens, and since they have the best software, they are simply doomed to success in the USA !!!

Unfortunately due to US laws we in Europe won't be able to play with our friends from states, but I sure hope someday it will be legal for us all to play on the same platform.

Americans are more picky in this matter, more responsible approach to such things, I would say more accurate in terms of the game, more picky in people, I think they will be fine. I will be glad to see them at the poker table!

ACR is legal in the States.
Instead of grieving over Stars, why aren't you obviously keen poker players on ACR.
Go there in numbers, build the site, and you will have all the poker you want, without Stars.

It's technically not legal. It's also an unregulated site. There's lots of concerns from the existing player base already about bots, collusion, the RNG system, etc. I do play on there but that's because we only have four options in the states.

WPN, ignition/Bovada, Merge and BetOnline while each have their own pros and cons. None of them compare to the versatility, reliability and 24/7 availability of any game like Pokerstars has.

When it is allowed to operate in the US ,it will become the surpass the large amt of player base it already holds, The prize pools could be so enormous it might be hard for other platforms to survive with maybe the exception of party poker which is doing a great job re-inventing themselves

Man if Pokerstars comes back to the U.S. that would be awesome. I’ve never played on pokerstars. I started playing poker around 2006 and was mostly playing live. Hosted poker nights every weekend at my place for the fellas in my neighborhood and remembered the day they announced Black Friday. When pokerstars left the U. S. I was just learning about how big they are. To play on that platform if they come back would be great.
