Are they just buying the casino,
or do they believe they have found a loophole to enable players to use terminals from a licensed casino to play on their main site?

They are doing it because of this:

"But states like Nevada and New Jersey are moving toward introducing regulated online poker within their states, with New Jersey legislators considering a law that would only make the market for online poker players in the state open to Atlantic City casinos. If a big state like California would also join in, there would suddenly be a viable online poker market again in the U.S."

Maybe just maybe this is a start in the right direction for the US players , It sure would be nice if something was done in the positive side of the online games , also would begreat if the funds from fultilt were returned IMO

I'm not even American and I've given up hope of these "maybes" and "soon" of poker regulation being back in the states and I want poker regulated as much as the next American!

Just one minute you hear some potentially good news, to then find out some other bad news which contradicts what was said before.

I guess it's just wait and see as always :/.

I have totally given up hope and as far as speculation and rumors, I will believe it when I see it.
I had a really hard time mourning the loss of FT and PS to go through it again, lol

Not a loophole. This provision looks like it will be key if there is ever federal legislation about OLP. It goes towards proving any entity is capable of providing an OLP site.

I'm of the opinion that Stars (in particular) should have fought the BF charges all the way thru court and the Supreme court if necessary, as it would have settled things once and for all. Instead, they settled, and little was really resolved. Recent opinions have favored the issue will become each States responsibility, in which case Stars (or others) could approach the problem similar to how they deal with france, and I believe Italy. Problem there is that the French, and Italians, apparently do not play against the ROW players

Havinga beachhead in the States, would help Stars

French players play against anyone with a European bank account, Italians is only for Italians. Spanish are same as Italians.

Interesting to see if Stars does anything special with its new live casinos or if they're just boring old casinos

Idk luckily for me Nj is making moves... theres a bill going to vote in assembly on Dec 17 that will go to to state senate on Dec. 20... With all of the hurt AC is in and the funds we need due to hurricane Sandy i feel this will come through I think this has alot to do with pokerstars trying to get a spot in Atlantic City

PokerStars Returning

More licensing flexibility kicks in after 2 years, but even then tax provisions and personal jurisdiction submission, plus rules against commingling domestic and international businesses, will complicate things for companies like PokerStars and 888. The draft also makes it tougher for companies that stayed in the U.S. post-UIGEA (with some potential loopholes).

This approach could undercut competition, but the trade-off is that it will dramatically increase player protection. You’re not going to run into any UB superuser scandals or Absolute Poker ownership shell games here.

Would be nice for all of the US to be able to play on PS or FT again soon. Having a limited player pool and limited games at the moment blows.

Can somebody explain to me what Law means that sites like Pokerstars cant be used by Americans but others can? Why can Pokerstars not bend round those laws to accommodate the US?

Apologies I have been blissfully uncaring until now.

Im pretty sure that pokerstars can bend around the rules just like some other sites.. but they choose not to so they don't run into a situation like BF again..

seems like a long way off, but i sure hope i am wrong. looking back, we (US players) were spoiled by pokerstars. US facing sites are draining to deal with for the most part

I dont think we will ever have Pokerstars again.
The best we can hope for is a new company uses Pokerstars software.
