Apparently, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement is scheduled to release its next list of approved internet gaming companies on November 15th. It's still possible that Pokerstars could receive a permit before the end of the month.
pokerstars did not appear on today's list. The next update will be on November 20th. If they don't make it onto the next list, then they will not be among the sites available come New Jersey's November 26th internet gambling launch.

I saw this on another site . . .

This is what I woke up to on Facebook when FTP updated their cover. It was soon replaced by another one that just said something like the thrill is returning soon. But I took a screenshot of this form my phone.

It's for sure they won't launch on the 26th, that was officially announced. But I think it's interesting that nobody even wants to consider that FTP will be back with a full suite of games, IF Rational Group gets a license in NJ.

Dumb of them not to give Pokerstars a license. Shows how clueless they are. They should be begging Pokerstars to come in :)

Doesn't NJ have a time line to either approve or deny Pstars a license?

short answer is no. Most likely they would not actually deny them a license, rather they would indicate to them they weren't going to approve them, and Rational Group would withdraw their application.

Also, people seem to think Pokerstars = Rational Group and vice versa. It isn't Pokerstars that has applied for a license, it is Rational Group.

My understanding is that approved licensees can have five sites, so we would likely see both FTP and PS. Obviously, to me at least, Full Tilt would be prominent with a full suite of games available, as there is far more money to be made off of house games.

not a surprise to me, at all. I think if they want to have US relations, they should get a new client with a new name. go from there. cant believe they even allowed a discussion about this, and this soon!

good job US courts for looking out!

Wow, Really do you think they will go with a state ID, and address???? NJ will base it off of your IP address, and not your mailing address.

They ping your cell phone, you not only have to be in NJ, you have to be well in NJ and away from the borders, or you will get booted off.

Either way, this is my first time really wishing I still lived in NJ... that is, if, Pokerstars gets to play there.

False, they base it off your social security number. And this is fact considering I am signed up to multiple sites and actually forgot to change my address legally and they said my address didn't match social security number so had to fix that first.

Yes Pokerstars is great, but why is everyone acting like that's the end all be all? It will still only be other NJ players, so what diff does it make?

Certain sites (wsop.com for NV residents, for example) do indeed ping your phone - everytime you log on. I think that's going to be the ongoing trend for state licensed sites.

When I started with online poker 2-3 weeks back, I hopped on PokerStars first, because I thought I saw an advert on TV for it (which, actually, was a advert for WSOP.) I really liked the freerolls they had to offer, seats to the WSOP, and the frequency of both... it would just be nice to give it a go with cash.

SSN only verifies WHO you are . . . they also have to verify WHERE you are, and to do that they ping your cell phone. There are reports all over of players close to the state lines who are unable to play because their phones are routing thru towers across the line. This is an ongoing issue and widely reported.

Again, where is the proof on this?? You keep making up posts like this, without backing up any of what you say, it's the same on 2+2 with you!!

I don't know anything about what they do in NJ but they definitely do the cell phone verification in Nevada.
