Did anyone read this?

https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-ne...r-platform-approved-to-return-in-pennsylvania

I just saw that today.

I'm in PA, I've never played there, so I went back and I see I did create an account years back but never was able to use it.

When I login now it says 'You are from the United States, you can not play for money here'

Now - is this new Pennsylvania licensing for pokerstars going to remove that message?

I am puzzled because I thought people in NJ could play- and that would fall 'in the United States.

I'm confused

If NJ can play at PS why does it say 'The United States' - either way- I know there are multiple Pokerstars sites around the world in various countries?

Do I have it wrong? I am at pokerstars.com

Anyone else have any news on this ? or insights? I know they've been trying but THAT article says they were just approved.

I am thinking maybe it will be a few days or weeks before they get it up and running

I merged your thread with the CC news thread - don't be alarmed! :)

This isn't quite a done deal with a bunch of things to iron out with the state's lawmakers from what I can tell.

Glad to see stars coming to more markets - sites having worldwide player pools is great for everybody!

Now for the other 47ish states...

Edit:

Oops... that's what I get for skimming. Well, a walled off site is a start I suppose - hopefully not the end.

As was said above, you can't play on the "real" pokerstars whether pa approves it or not. All the sites in the few states that allow it are restricted to only play with players from those states. It will be a separate site that you can only play while in that state. There is one site now that has license in the current 3 legal states so people in those 3 states can all play together. But we are a long way off from ever being able to play on pokerstars with the rest of world.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I didn't realize it wouldn't be the main one.

PS wrote me back and said they are in process - but sad to hear you say it's going to be a side site.

Pennsylvania is ready to go "LEGAL"

Pennsylvania is very close to having totally legit online poker! Poker-Stars has been granted a license. They are partnering with Mt. Airy Casino, a brick and mortar Casino. I am hearing early 2019 and Poker-Stars says they are going offer Pennsylvania a "seamless poker" experience?? I cannot find a definitive answer on what our player pool is going to look like, if anyone knows who and what Stars is going to do please comment in the thread. Are we going to only play U.S. players from New Jersey, Delaware?? Or only Pennsylvania only?/

I am excited, Poker Stars has the best software, I know they have all kinds of issues with high rake, etc.... I am not going negative in this post. I am just happy that our Govt. is starting to take its head out of it's ass!!! Oops- sorry!

All the sites in the legal states can only play with players in those states. If pa joins the multi state agreement that nj, de, and nv have then I'd say pa and nj will be the player pool on pokerstars in USA as pokerstars is not in de or nv. Right now one site is in all 3 states and is only site where players from all 3 states can play together.

I wish they’d just open everything up for all. This ‘only play against those in one state’ stuff is bull.

Great news. I'd love to be able to start playing again on any site we'd like. I'm in Ohio and our state it's ok to play online poker so hopefully soon we'll get something like this. PS and FT were my 2 Favorites back in the day til they took poker away from us US players. We don't have many options as of now.

I am in Pa and waiting patiently. I always play PS NJ when I am in NJ. The platform is truly one of the best in my opinion. Multi State would be great.

I just want to Pokerstars to be available nationwide like the good old days. We already know it's going to be a LONG time if at all we ever get back to that.

Very correct amendment. American PS reservation will expand only.

NJ, Nevada, and Delaware are on the same software. PA is far from being included in that, because of the laws that were passed this week. If they open up, it will be a server just for PA members.

Since I started this thread, I thought I would try to update it with news articles. I am going to add a link at the bottom of what I consider "bad" news. Yes, Pokerstars is going to start soon. Yes, it will only allow Pennsylvania residents to play each other. This is just not good for poker. Pennsylvania already has Casino Poker, so this is not really going to change much, I am afraid. It is good advertising for Stars. Another company applied for , and then pulled out of online poker? Competition is always good, I believe Mohegan was partnered with 888. Mohegan withdrew from Poker but are going forward with online slots and sportsbetting. Please read the article, it just sounds like more backroom dealing by our Government- In Pennsylvania that is a Democrat controlled Government. Everyone tries to blame Republicans, I say our Government is not helping or serving citizens. Does not matter what party they claim. All are corrupt. https://www.uspoker.com/blog/pokerstars-pa-2019/25118/ https://www.uspoker.com/blog/pa-online-poker-doj-opinion/25570/

After I added 2nd article. I felt I should explain my position, the DOJ memo that is throwing a "wrench" into online poker is a decision to uphold a Law. The DOJ is not really supposed to be influencing business. They absolutely get away with doing just that because The United States has a Congress which is so worth-less, anything that passes Congress as a law is written so badly that it can be interpreted anyway a lawyer wants to "read" the law. This is done on purpose to begin the Politician's normal course of blame someone else. They are taking either old, old , laws and using them to suit a purpose or they write laws that will only be used to extort more money from business or from citizens.

I try not to even talk politics anymore because there is no "good" side of politics. Both sides are working against the average citizen.
