I don’t agree with the list; just beginning, there will be a lot of news

As they say, to predict a thankless task

2019 was one of the events when Daniel Negreanu switched to poker

I hope there will be a lot of good news in 2020

From the poker world

By the way in some countries the holidays are only beginning :D:D:D
For example in my counrty it is until 5th of January and after 7th it is holiday too.
And I'm silent about Russia where holidays untill 9th of January :D

And now I need to reed about forecasts maybe I'll add something
Now that the holidays are out of the way, it’s time to look ahead to 2020. More specifically, Jon Sofen has 10 predictions for what you can expect from the poker world in the coming year.

Do you have anything to add? Or do you agree with Jon's list?

The one prediction that Im sure of is #8. Unlimited rebuys are here to stay. Its to much money for the casinos/online sites to turn down.

Well, about Alex Foxen and his victory with reentries, I also don’t like reentry and the opponent is not afraid to lose his stack and interest disappears.

That’s a really good list of predictions!

1. Agree- the growth in attendance at live poker events over the last few years has been marked and coupled with the expansion of on line markets withinthe US, the wsop could well enjoy a record field.

2. 50/50 -Ali Imsirovic is a force but the competion is stiff. I am not sure we have seen peak Alex Foxen just yet and I can see someone such as a slightly older-school type, a Steve O’Dwyer, going on a heater this year.

3.Agree-the momentum is there, the size of the specific states and their influence significant and as each one enters the fray there is a less convincing argument to be made by those states which are holding out against on-line poker.

4.50/50-Daniel’s best game in recent years was when he took several months off to be coached. He came back and played a new game- he was stoic at the table, did not talk, took a measured time to make each decision and then won 3 million coming second at the Super High Roller Bowl(Bonomo won). However, entering the WSOP afterwards, he reverted back to his normal game (and has done ever since) and another bracelet has eluded him.

5.50/50-I think Postle getting outed will make anyone very wary of pulling a similar stunt.

6.Agree-I think players on (year long) heaters has been a trend for the last several years.

7.Agree– I really like that ‘second tier’ of US players who are only second tier due to slightly lower profiles- they are absolute ballers. I’d put Jake Schindler in that list with Elias.

8.Agree- simple solutions and ideas could be found regarding the re-entry issue (as I have posed) but the present situation suits both the industry and key players (contrary to what they might otherwise claim).

9.Agree-Cates might have an edge in Heads Up NLHE, but I think he’ll struggle against Galfond playing PLO. That said, I believe Cates can afford the challenge and likes the media attention so its sort of a win win either way - somewhat expensive PR but I think Cates enjoys the buzz.

10.50/50-essentially, I agree. However...I presume the plaintiff will request a jury as a jury could potentially give more latitude than a judge. Subsequently a decision could comedown against Postle and a nominal amount be awarded. The mistake was not persuading the police to get involved immediately the matter became public.

I just dont understand this way of thinking, at least not if we are talking about online poker. Reenty cost money, and there are many tournaments running all the time, so why does it even matter, if people can play the same tournament multible times, or if they have to buy into another one? I can say for sure, that it makes absolutely no difference to the way, I play, and there is no rational reason, why it would.

In live poker it tends to matter a bit more, because people travel to the casino, and there is not always another tournament, they can enter, if they bust. But at the same time this also mean, that no reentry really suck, because you might drive for hours or even travel on an airplane only to be out due to a set over set cooler after 12 minutes.

Again, no matter what I feel about someone like Negreau rebuying 18 times in the Colossus WSOPE (negative) there are times when rebuys, if the field is not stacked with pros, boosts the prize pool and boosts the coffers of the host (all good for the poker economy).

However, picking on Alex Foxen in this case is silly- and this sort of started with Norman Chad who made some great/valid criticism of Negreanu and Deeb at the 2019 WSOPs but now this has become his cause celebre. So he criticized Foxen after the Five Diamonds following his win.

This was dumb as with a $10,400 entry fee this tournament is almost exclusively played by top pros, many of whom expect to rebuy. In fact I already pointed out elsewhere (I feel I regularly repeat myself here) although the last few Five Diamonds have not released the reentry rates, when they did before they would receive as many as 300 reentries for a field of approximately 1,000 runners.

And if reported correctly, at the final table, four had fired a single bullet, three had re-entered, one had reentered twice and Foxen had fired five bullets. Everyone knows precisely what they are getting into.

Save the criticism for any large/main unlimited reentry events where the buy-ins are lower and the majority of the field are recreational. Cap the reentries at all such events and the WSOP should dispense with awarding points for reentries as regards Player of the Year. The Player of the Year points awarded could rest on the first bullet fired only in any given tourney which would stop (and render useless) all the well heeled pros reentering like banshees (specific for those who chase the title with little regard for anything else).

Yea i have to agree with that. Although it doesn't really help all the poor newbies build there bankroll. Seems like people will play a whole lot more hands no matter what their value. But that's just cards i guess.
