Phil Galfond isn’t ready to give up in his heads-up poker challenge against “Venividi1993,” yet. But he’s down €900,000 in 15 sessions and admitted on Twitter that he’s pondering calling it quits. Does this surprise anyone that he didn't consider taking his break a bit sooner?

All things considered, the best thing Galfond could do for now was to withdraw and mentally regroup. Anyone looking at this challenge objectively could see things were spiraling downwards and Galfond must have been under a huge amount of stress.

Sorry, rooting for Galfond. Venividi has a very obvious upstart, constantly arriving. In the end, he really started on the gutshots and still reached. After this, it is no wonder to squabble. If even this is not won ...

Massive respect for Galfond showing the human element of poker and the importance/stress of/on mental game of poker.

Phil Galfond should be a big daredevil if he agreed to this. Top regulars immediately said that he would lose this bet, as his level of PLO is very low.:icon_flow

Many people are really enjoying taking shots at Phil. I run to his defense, even though he certainly does not need me to do that. I am posting a link to an interview he did yesterday with Joey I. . I think what many people react to is Phil having a hard tie admitting that he cannot compete. HEY - people wake up, this attitude and "ego" if you will, is what is needed to get to the top of any industry or sport. You have to have insane confidence in yourself and your ability. I take Phil's side, not so much because I think he can beat the new generation of online Beasts, but because Phil really cares about the poker player. He invested 4 years and money into creating run-it-once Poker. He did not have to do this. He is trying to create a better place for poker players to play poker. Every other site is turning poker into a casino style game where only the house wins.

Anyway , here is his latest thoughts on the challenge. He says even if he buys out of VeniVedi's challenge there is going to be much more Poker from Phil starting in March

Taking shots at most big-name poker players is what people do. That is not how everyone feels about the man at all, but there will always be negative comments or naysayers around. Phil knows this and people can come to his defence or not, but in the end, Phil has a thicker skin than most people give him credit - he can take it and will respond if he feels the need. After all, this is a successful and one of the classiest poker players around that we are referring to.

I personally don't have any opinion on the entire challenge, since it is simply put, a high-stakes challenge. I also believe, he knew the risks well in advance and also knew his challengers could potentially win. It's an expensive marketing strategy but Phil also knew this going into the challenge.

Half the way , he has won some money of the lost , but still he's behind . i wonder whether he'll do the miracle and win everything back , not very likely , but it's poker , you never know . Maybe win some more , then throw in the towel to minimise losses or what :D ???? I don't like this challenge since it started . Against jungleman , I hope Galfond loses :)

Phil still has quite a way to go to recoup the losses with Veni Vidi. There is still hope he can do it!
