Do you remember the 'Mike Postle' cheating allegations in 2019? Here's an update on the case.

Stones Gambling Hall Seeks Case Dismissal, Denies Responsibility in Alleged Mike Postle Cheating Scandal

It speaks volumes that Stones are trying to get this dismissed.

If they hadn't done anything wrong then they would be unbiased and should welcome having the matter investigated, clarified and dealt with to exonerate themselves and clear the gaming room's reputation...

Instead...

"Nothing happened- throw it out of court, gamblers always think they've been cheated when they lose"...

LOL!

The game has two sides. One side gives you a prize, the other takes your last chance.Who will win in this story is not clear to us but one thing is clear the game does not spare anyone. Is the truth on the side of the strong? So we will see in the future.

It's so predictable that the Stones casino takes Mike's ''the Apostle '' side on this lawsuit and conflict , why should we talk about it at all , what else could have been expected . Especially the fear to be regarded also responsible for the victims' comprehension if the cheating be proven , really everyone can understand their attitude .
They say nothing happened , but at the same time they forget their narratives reactions during many Apostle's hands , or the explanations they gave about how RFID woks at live streams and the possibility or not to show some cards right the one moment and wrong later , or vice versa , also some really historically hands like the 54 shove against moneymaker and one more , not even Macao whales with their unlimited bankroll would do sth like this ...

Any way , the casino should call as their witness and defender/supporter the commentator with the rolling eyes in a video , his reaction for waiting for Mike's most probable next decision following the action , his next crazy decison with stupid hand , and how to explain it in the commentary/live stream to the watchers . Mike should take his brother to defend him and repeat how Mike is good at any ''angle '' since he was a child , really unique confession by sb who is your blood , a really ''funny'' story like the commentator said and then comment '' what an angle shooter ...'' , judges would love to hear about this story and they will also find it very ''funny'' ......

It is hardly surpricing, that the accused believe, there is no case against them. Also until now Stones gambling Hall have gotten away very lightly, since everyone has been referring to this as the "Mike Postle scandal" rather than the "Stones Gambling Hall scandal". But really its questionable, if Mike Postle was even the brain behind this scam.

When you think about it, its more likely, that the brain behind this was tournament director Justin Kuriakis, and that he was the one, who approached Mike Postle, not the other way around. And at this point we cant even say with 100% certainty, that Mike was the only player, who got fed RFID data in real time. Maybe the others just played more rarely and/or were better to manage the situation than Mike.

Casino and Mike Postle have long been united. It will be difficult for deceived players in lawsuits.

I tend to agree, that this is quite likely to end in nothing. But the case still serve as a warning to other casinos to have proper security measures in place for RFID data. And as for Mike Postle he is already "persona non grata" at live poker tables anywhere in the world. So in a sense he got his punishment already.

When the Postle story broke a majority declared him guilty and presumed he’d have the book thrown at him - that the case was easily provable. A couple of posters tried to counter this view to the annoyance of many.

It was never aquestion of whether he looked guilty or not, he did. It was never aquestion of whether anyone colluded with him at Stones, they obviously had. It was a question of proof.

There was no evidence in hand. The allegations were made in a public manner via social media, then things escalated. At no early point did anyone call or persuade the police to become involved. Of course they should have been involved immediately and all the computer systems impounded and investigated forensically. That would have been a start.

Instead Postle and accomplices were given time to destroy any communications devices in use and we still have little idea whether computer and phone systems were impounded or even accessed at all along the way.

So why anyone would be surprised that Stones, at this juncture, asked for the case to be dropped? Its reputation is already in the crapper. That said, once this scandal was exposed, did people stop playing there? Punters likely believe now all is clean regarding operations.

As regards the room/tournament director being involved - at first this looked themost obvious source of collusion. However, along the way there appeared to be one technical support guy who seemed to be the one who could have coordinated with Postle. There were times when he was absent from some of the sessions and Postles ‘productivity’appeared to drop.

Much as I (as everyone else) would like to see justice done in this case, I am not convinced this will amount to much more than a salutary lesson.

It sucks I loved stones. Great food, and I never played at a casino with more pretty girls playing poker. Postle was a fun player to watch too... but he's obviously guilty, and he's probably going to get away with it. I pray they don't sue veronica, that would be real low.

Appreciate the comment and a little background about Stones DixonHuenow.

No doubt the Postle episode (and whatever was involved) was mismanaged in the bigger scheme of things but I am sure the gaming room was founded with nothing but the intention to turning a profit whilst punters enjoyed themselves.

It is not really all that important, who it was, but as I understand it, Justin Kuriakis was out of town during those periods, where Mike Postly lacked his "god mode". I also understand, that Justin has remained out of sight, since the case exploded, and that he has been on a very expensive vacation. So apparently the job as tournament director of a local casino pay very well.

As far as criminal investigation goes, we dont actually know, if such is taking place. That can take years, as it did, when a danish online pro was recently convicted for planting spy software on the computers of several of his opponents. I share your view, its quite likely, the people involved in this scam will espace justice, but we dont actually know yet.

Is the case with the Danish pro the one where he broke into rivals hotel rooms and installed malware on their computers so he could read opponents hole cards in real time? If so wasn't Jason Koon caught in that?

Yes, regarding Stones, the Justin Kuraitis' role is suspect but the impression I was left with was he was incompetent rather than corrupt (although who is to say at this point?).

The true lesson to learn was that someone should have been aware enough to go discreetly to the police, inform them of clearly suspect behavior and (hopefully) encourage them to conduct a sting operation to be able to nab the suspects in flagrante delicto.

Much as everyone enjoyed Joey Ingram and posse playing detective on-line and very much in public it did little to move the needle. It could be interesting if poker 'experts' were called to testify to debunk Postle's 'run good' but again, is it even clear yet whether the civil case will be heard by a jury or simply by a judge, which could make a huge difference as to how testimony is received?

With hindsight the case could have been handled different by those, who first got suspicious. But as I understand it, part of the problem was, that Veronica at first did not suspect, that Justin Kuriakis was involved, so he was the guy, she contacted. Which was obviously enough already to set off destruction of psycical evidence like cellphones etc.

I dont think, it was limited to hotel rooms, but yes. My point is, this cheating took place from 2008-2014, and he got convicted in 2019, so legal cases can take a lot of time.

I believe the Mike Postle lawsuit will be going on for equally as long, if not longer than the Danish pro cheating scandal.

In hindsight, (or even foresight) I could see social media wasn't going to help this case at all. I get that the people involved wanted Postle exposed but having him tried in the court of public opinion is not going to help speed up or resolve their lawsuit.

This will be a good opportunity for the lawyers to take all the money.

This, so much.

The take away here is that if anyone had cause to believe something fraudulent was underway (live or on-line) then gather you thoughts (and evidence if feasible) and approach the authorities. If the police/FBI refused to get involved , which would be unlikely, then take matter to social media as a final resort!

Some lawyers may tie this up in the courts for a very, very long time given the nature of the lawsuit.

When there is no clean and clear information in the answers of the player and the casino, then it is safe to insist on continuing the investigation and searching for real evidence in court.:icon_pale

Thankfully in the end these types of people (usually) become too greedy and in doing so orchestrate their own demise.

Hopefully that is the case with the guilty parties here and that the scandal didn't scare them off before there was enough evidence to prove their misdeeds...

I agree. Only time will tell. It definitely has become one of the most negative issues in the poker community.

Good luck To All:cool:
