The Beau Rivage Casino’s Million Dollar Heater in Mississippi was played this past weekend with a guest who said his name was “Mike Lawrence” also known as Mike Postle. Once he was discovered, poker Twitter was fired up!

It says he was accused of cheating in a "live streamed" game. Is that something where the hole cards would be seen on camera and someone could radio or signal the values to Postel? Or was it just another form of cheating that happened to occur in a game that was being live streamed?

Unfortunately, I do not know such a player.
I play poker for fun, so I don't know very few famous players)

There are lots of articles and videos about this incidence on online media. Since nothing was ever admitted or proven, its still not quite clear, how he got information about the other players hole cards. But the most common hypothesis is, that the raw feed from the stream was simply send to his phone, which he kept under the table and often stared at before making some very accurate decisions in big pots.

Nothing was ever proven, but ill-advised butt-hurt legal action was taken that definitely caused Postle many problems

Are you saying, that Mike Postle is the victim in this cheating chandal? The civil lawsuit was dismissed by court, because it was considered a gambling dispute, which can not be handled by the Californian court system. One can say, that the lawyer filing the case should have known this and not wasted his clients time and money. But in no way, shape or form does this mean, Mike Postle was innocent, and no cheating took place. What it mean, is, he got away with cheating without any legal repercussions. Which is pretty common in poker. The people involved in the Ultimate Bet / Absolute Poker superuser scandal were also not prosecuted.

No. I was talking about how his lawsuit backfired and he ended up in an even worse position than when he started in the midst of the cheating scandal.

we got a few real dummies in that thread but I guess that was early on in the drama.
for me, it's 100% but I find it ridiculous that it wasn't proven.
the people putting on the live stream wanted a hero for excitement and to attract viewers,
it's a reality show and many think poker is boring, so they sent the table info to mike's phone, and boom!
how exciting to have a poker god at the table! and they played that up to the hilt but they were all too stupid to make it seem feasible.

Yeah filing a defamation lawsuit against people saying, you probably cheated, is not a good idea, when you probably cheated ;)
If he was smart at all he would have just said nothing at all. But he thought there was an opportunity to get more money through litigation, maybe? I can't explain it honestly...

Exactly. Trying to defend yourself publicly, when you have such a bad case, is not a good idea. Much better to just say nothing and wait for public attention to turn elsewhere :)

Thanks Shells for sharing it.
Well, I think once a player is caught up in fraudulent ways, he should never step again in any poker room. Everyone knows Mike Postle is “a thief and a liar”, paraphrasing Smaug from The Hobbit.
It is bad for the poker club to allow thugs like these to continue playing, we’ll never know his mean intentions, it’s bad for the others players who are sitting with him and he should serve as an example, as it happens to any other thug in the real life.
Mike Postle should’ve been banned either from live and from on-line poker forever, thus others wouldn’t be inclined to follow his criminal path.,

well without someone feeding him the cards he is back to being a regular idiot, so taking his money would be second best.
