I came across this article on Facebook, written by Tedas Peckaitis from casino.org going into a look at Mike Matusow, where he's been, where he's at now, and was a very interesting read.

You all know him from the heyday of Poker on TV with his appearances on the original Poker After Dark, the high stakes cash games, and all the wsop coverage. He's still kicking around in the poker world, though not in the limelight like he used to be, but you have to give him credit, he's a true grinder of the game and don't expect him to go away anytime soon.

Here's the article, again thanks to Tedas and casino.org for this.

Interesting read but I have to admit that Mike was one of my least favorite players "back in the day"

He just irritates me.

He's one of those polarizing players, where you either like him or you dislike him. Check out this exchange with Shawn Sheikhan from the 2005 WSOP Main Event, I'd be interested in whose side you're on here (I wouldn't be surprised if you said neither).

I still love watching these old WSOP episodes.

He has a fairly active YouTube channel. A great article I can no longer find was from the late Gavin Smith called 'In defense of the Call"

Mike Matusow vs Shawn Sheikhan Epic Fight at World Series of Poker - YouTube

One of the times that I agree with Mike but he is guilty of that behavior all of the time as well. They don;t call him "The Mouth" for nothing.

That was from the section on Fulltilt "Tips from the Pros". (I copy/pasted a bunch of them and still have them stored on an outdated laptop).

Not sure why you're grouping Gavin in with Matusow? (fwiw, I really liked Gavin... but can't say the same about Mike)

Well Tony G has a big mouth as well but to me is funny to watch, i think even people to whom he had been rude doesn't count him for serious.

Thanks for the link to the article! Mike was one of my favorite players at one point, I used to find his antics hilarious but he's definitely not for everyone lol.

Mike did go a tad to far at times but we know part of the reasons was he had an issue. When I read his book it really let me understand his issue better. I do wish him the best of luck in life.

I like them both but rarely agree with either one, even now some of Mike's tweets get me going.
but in this case, mike was 100% right but handled it in typical mike fashion.

Gavin could be a rude fck when drunk but I liked him as well. I think both were overall good guys. tried to get a pic with Gavin but he was on a feature table and never got the chance. mike had me mad at him for a while because he didn't say a word about Chris
Ferguson when I took this pic with him. guess he didn't get the connection:eek:

Mike organized an online tribute for Mike Sexton when Mike was dying. Many well known people called in and Sexton's family said their Mike was listening and moved by it.

Mike Sexton originated the nickname "Mike the Mouth". Mike Matusow earned my respect for that. Mike Sexton was one of the most likeable gentleman in poker.

Matusow, for everything that he is, both on the poker tables and off, whether you agree or disagree with what he says regardless of the topic, does try to mean well and can be a likeable guy whose heart is in the right place. This was one of those times he was exactly that.

What he did for Mike Sexton was such a tremendous gesture on his part. I didn't have a chance to listen to it, but it's a terrific way to show ones respect for another person whose time on earth was short.

A very little of Mike went a long way. I'm sure he is a very nice guy when he isn't acting like himself.

The "Mouth" may not be as active and popular at the poker tables as before, but it still keeps afloat. The podcast is his thing, which definitely suits him. No wonder he got such a nickname.

Mike's had one heck of a rollercoaster career. He used to be fun to watch but at some point it became clear he was playing over his head in those televised high stakes games.

Well, apparently after all those stumbles, falls, and bad decisions, because unfortunately you have not finished learning, because declaring that you bet a large part of what was left of money in a game, it means that you continue to have many problems, which will continue to take its toll, as long as it is not controlled, good player I hope he can recover.
