if i was a republican in congress who had at some point tried to get something done but saw that the democracts in congress are making sure that nothing positive ever gets done then yeah why not play poker. we have a president who watched on live feed as diplomats and navy seals were murdered and told our troops to stand down for nothing more than political policy , but this bothers you plzzzzzz

Yup that sounds like a solution. Completely disregard the hearings and play a game on your phone - sounds more like a child who gets a D on his homework and decides he's not gonna do it anymore.

Damn wanted to be the first to post the vid. Pretty funny but you can't blame the guy. I don't think I could listen to the same thing being said for 3.5 hours without finding something kill some time with. I love how he almost says he's playing for real money(maybe he was if it was bovada)

+1

"I'm going to take my ball and go home", lol.

You know, I would be interested to know how he comes down on online gaming/poker...you know, for real money. If he would vote against it, it would kinda be like saying "it's O.K. for me to play poker for play money while at my job, instead of doing my job; but it's not O.K. for you to play for real money at home when on your own time away from your job."

My two cents on a couple of things here . . . .

First off, Sen. Mccain's position on use of force in Syria has already been established, he is not going to be swayed by the hearings underway. That he wasn't paying attention as so many Senators made campaign style speeches during these hearings is hardly earth shattering or dereliction of his job.

He was playing a game on his phone, it could have been candy crush, but it was something that looks like poker. It's the VIP poker App, so we know it's not real money, and consequently not real poker. We should not, as the poker community, be giving this any attention at all.

This actually works against us, because here he can say "Look you don't need to gamble to play poker, so there's no reason to allow real money poker"

We need to make that point that he was simply playing some poker style Bingo on his phone, not poker.

All the talk of hypocrisy is misguided. He wasn't gambling, he was playing a game, and if we equate to our game, we will come out the losers.

i dont see any1 accusing him of completely disregarding the hearings. except maybe you. my point is that this is small potatoes compared to the treason of our president.

When you're playing poker on your phone, you're clearly not paying any attention.

Damn, he knocked down my pocket rockets - let's see if he can take these ones down.

- On the news today, an accidental drone strike happened in the house of a Colorado man.

Now, on a more serious note. If I know anything about McCain, is that once his mind is set, he's not going to change it. Regardless of how many 3-4 hour long sessions he goes to.

It tells you how serious politics are. No wonder why nothing ever happens, because no one is paying attention. Maybe he can start moving for legalized poker now that he got caught playing the game itself.

McCain voted in favor of the 1998 Internet Gambling Amendment which, if passed, would have banned placing, receiving or otherwise making a bet or wager on the Internet.

As a strong supporter of Indian gaming, and with the tribes' anti-online gambling stance, it is assumed McCain would not support online gambling. A 2004 article for ESPN by Peter Keating said that McCain would ban Internet gambling - "not because it's addictive, but because players typically have no way of knowing whether they are in fair games."

Quoted from: http://www.pokerlistings.com/election-2008-mccain-hard-to-pin-down-32023

Senator John McCain was on a roll. In a room reserved for high-stakes gamblers at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, he tossed $100 chips around a hot craps table. When the marathon session ended around 2:30 a.m., the Arizona senator and his entourage emerged with thousands of dollars in winnings.

The former official said he would tell Mr. McCain: “Do we really have to go to a casino? I don’t think it’s a good idea. The base doesn’t like it. It doesn’t look good. And good things don’t happen in casinos at midnight.”
“You worry too much,” Mr. McCain would respond, the official said.

Quoted from: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/28/us/politics/28gambling-web.html?pagewanted=all

When I saw this news feed I seemed to remember that Mr. McCain held a negative few towards online gaming in the past so decided to do a bit of homework. After some reading, combined with the sheepish look on his face during the posted interview, I find it highly unlikely that he was playing for play money. Though I saw someone say they recognized the app as a play money app it seems more than likely that he does play for real stakes somewhere. Another case of a , “do as I say, not as I do” politician.
