Inauguaral Women’s Poker Summit to Address Gender Inequality, Toxic Table Behavior

The World Poker Tour’s Vice President of Global Tour Management, Angelica Hael, is spearheading a new initiative to bring more women to the game. The Women’s Poker Summit will be held in conjunction with the WPT Los Angeles Event on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino.

What would you change to bring more women to the poker table?

As someone who has never played live I would have no idea. For myself I don't live anywhere near a casino, if I did travel to play, I wouldn't be able to afford to play. Matter of fact I would not be able to afford to play even if I did get to a casino.

The Summit is a step forward, it;s amazing just playin online and the flack you end up receiving when the other guys find out they lost to a woman LOL, IT'S SAD
The days are coming when the men will respect us when sitting across the table..
Oh ya i surely didn't mean all men players, There are many fine men that appreciate women at the tables and their game play !!!!

I think the ladies-only events are a good way to get more women into the game. And more women are playing every day!

Since poker was considered an underground thing for so long, I think many women stayed away from the game. As with any male-dominated industry, sport, etc., it will take time for the female population in poker to catch up to the number of male players.

Also, it would really help if the men who are less-than-welcoming would either 1) be nice or 2) just be quiet. You're not funny, it's not acceptable and no one wants to hear your snide comments. (Okay, off my soapbox now.)

I have tried to get my ex and my daughters to play. I have no idea why they don't want anything to do with poker at all.
