This is amazing news, but I hope that they don't leave it up to the States to regulate! If they do, then it will turn out like sports betting has and nothing will get done. I'm hopeful that they will handle it at the Federal level.

States still have to legislate it. Then they can be added to the play pool that already has Nevada, NJ and Delaware. But don't expect too many states to do it because you still have brick and mortar casinos lobbying against it in a lot of states. And we still won't be able to play on the big international networks.

good news after a long wait !

we have a nicely sized player pool here in california even if we are restricted to this state alone . and it sure would be exciting to have a chance to rejoin poker stars a few years down the road !

Good evening to you all. It looks like the Appellate Court has ruled against the DOJ in the case against online poker which could possibly clear the way for online poker to come back in the United States in all 50 states what do you think of this recent development that just happened about 5 hours ago. https://www.pokernews.com/news/2021/...-act-38556.htm

In recent years, good news has rarely been heard about online poker. Let's hope these aren't just empty words...

Hoping for the best. But not holding my breath. I think it’s gonna take some time before we see poker back in the states fully.

Just wondering, if it is legal at the Federal level, but nothing on the books for the States. Does that mean gray market sites would be legal to play on? I doubt the State would lock you up for playing online poker.

I asked on another thread about Harry Reid and the efforts he made to make online happen in the US

Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that no one answered. And after scrolling this thread, only the guy I’m replying to seems to grasp the big picture

He mentions the brick and mortar casinos having an issue with online. Don’t forget an absolute massive Natives Group in California who will also do their absolute best to xxxx it up as well. bluff has run a ton of deep deep articles on this particular topic and I highly recommend checking them out.

And probably no one will bother. But they’re good articles.

Common sense (with all the exposure and money on the online table prior to Black Monday or Friday.....10 years or more back) says it should have been sorted out long ago. So much money at stake. How could everyone not figure out a way to divide up a massive pie?

Probably never happen. Not in my lifetime.

Seem like regulation of online poker will still be on a state to state basis, just as it is already, and just as it is here in the EU. So probably this ruling is not quite as important, as some are hoping for. As I see it, it basically just wont stop the process, which is already ongoing and has been for years. But nothing indicate, that people from all US states will be able to play on regulated sites anytime soon, or for that matter on regulated sites against people from other parts of the world. So still no Sunday Million, SCOOP, WSOOP or anything like that for US players, unless they travel to other countries.

Yes. A hurdle to a degree has been removed but the idea soon all Americans will be playing on line is a little premature.

The article presumes the Supreme Court will not hear the case. Really? It went largely under the radar screen but the Supreme Court just interpreted the law regarding the emoluments clause in Trumps favor in what appeared to be an overtly political decision. Let's hope it does not reach them. Likely three at least of those judges would be very familiar with the recently departed Sheldon Adelson and his influence on the right wing and policy.

Secondly as noted above, many red states will be angered at this decision and will interfere in any way they can to bar their citizens from playing on line. And, I would maintain this is where the battle will take place - on a state by state basis no matter if the federal government proves relatively hands off.

This is looking very promising, I hope we will see a return of big online poker in America

I had a feeling that the new administration may do a play on online poker for taxes, let's just hope that if they do they don't tax it so hard that it's not worth playing

Here's to hoping!!!

The US poker community is huge, it would really be a good thing if America returned to the tables online.

That's great news.:)
I would also like to create structures that will ensure the integrity of online poker and protect the rights of players in front of poker rooms, then it would be great at all.
