Its an Interesting article which revolves around the question of compensating/refunding money back to a player who tests live during a tournament plus other questions.

First, I am with Allen Kessler regarding the tournament informing players someone had to withdraw from their table due to Covid. It's all about mitigation and communal responsibility. I do not understand why this is even in question.

Regarding refunding buy ins if a player contracted Covid, that's a little more difficult to call. Most tourneys will already have some idea of how many players are dropping out (the wsop was just held for heaven's sake). If that figure turned out to be low then I would imagine most would not be to put out if players received a refund.

Regarding a chip count being reflected in such a payout, I am not sure about that. I can imagine most balking at that until the cash bubble has been reached, and even then it would be contentious. The fact someone was chip leader half way through a tourney is hardly a guarantee they will win it.

This is when common sense should rule the day and I would quickly poll as many players as feasible to receive a clear idea of what players think. I am going to assume for instance the WSOP will have records of all who participated in this years series. Email all a short and concise questionnaire on the matter. Majority opinion then becomes a recommendation for all tourneys for the foreseeable future

It's quite hard to handle in any other way! If a player is unable to play due to another sickness, it's his unlucky day, his blinds will be folded and that's the rule! I don't think we should give COVID (this pain in the ass) more attention or special rules.

Most illnesses are individual misfortune but this is a pandemic affecting the nation/globe and day to day life. Omicron is now by far and away the most infectious strain and Covid can be passed to those who have done everything they can to avoid serious illness- vaccinations and boosters etc.

Exceptional times call for exceptional measures.

Exceptional times call for exceptional measures.

Except it isn't exceptional in any way. I will never understand how our gullible species fell for this complete BS, but I'm not here to start yet another controversy... people are going to believe whatever they choose to believe. For me, I consider the past two years to be "business as usual" except for the obvious fact that it isn't normal at all, my local poker room (Wynn Encore Boston Harbor) has been closed for the entire two years and while they have announced a February reopening for the poker room, they also announced that instead of 74 tables like it used to be, it will be 12 tables (or some equally ridiculous number), and even more amazing, the hours of operation for the poker room will be comical - 10am to 8pm, M-F with no weekend operation at all... and obviously, no poker tournaments whatsoever.

So for me, nothing in life has changed, as a retired person I live my life the exact same way I always did. But externally, in the "world-at-large", everything has changed, including my former favorite hobby and my dream of making my hobby my source of income. Live poker is seemingly finished, at least in my Communistwealth of Massachusetts. On the bright side, my options for a return to sanity are quite clear at this point - which is to leave this liberal sh*thole and move to a place where the people aren't such cowards wearing masks and actually live up to that last line of our National Anthem about being "the home of the brave"... namely, Florida, which thankfully also has a thriving casino poker economy, as well as having no state income tax to further rob us of our profits...

Anyway, enjoy your fear porn if that's your thing. I never worried before about getting the common cold or the flu, of course it is not much fun but we survived for thousands of years as a species and despite the Chicken Littles in the media screaming about "the sky is falling, the sky is falling", we'll get thru this one too. As usual, it isn't the sickness that will kill us, but rather, our insane reaction to it. Welcome to humanity and human nature. We're nothing but a bunch of retards. Including myself, obviously.

Carry on. :D

Naturally...I disagree because all the post underlines is the pandemic has been politicized from the outset and this is more of the same.

The take is a great conspiracy is underfoot as though lockdowns and business restrictions benefit certain parties when they clearly don't benefit anyone. Specific to the politics dragged in...

Communistwealth of Massachusetts...

...leave this liberal sh*thole...

...where people aren't such cowards wearing masks...

...enjoy your fear porn if that's your thing...

And therein lies the rub. I believe at this point everyone would be fine if people with your view of the pandemic could only harm themselves, but that's not true and everyone knows it. Dressing a pandemic opinion with right wing talking points simply isn't going to advance any argument.

That is why we are stuck where we are. Some 30% of American adults remain unvaccinated, aim your ire at those who deserve it. Yesterday another 1,639 people died of Covid in the US where the total deaths have now risen above 834,000.

Fear porn?

Bravo!
What is the life if you live it this way that brained washed people accept it.
If you are just looking for security you really don't deserve freedom, it is really enough, come on people let's start to live again, throw away your masks and stop with testing, testing, testing and counting "sick"
Live and let live.

First things first. I really don't need to be dared to read anything.

Secondly, regarding Robert F Kennedy Jr...this would be the same guy who claims to be an anti-vaxxer yet requested guests at his house to be vaccinated...that Robert F Kennedy Jr? Bless.

Essentially because I am an intelligent, rational person who believes in science. Quite simple really.

"the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.:" from google search for definition of science

Seems a lot of folks that are following the science have not read to the end of the definition of science.

I personally would like to see some blind observational peer reviewed studies comparing Vaxes to all known prophylactic measures.

Release the vax data and reveal the science. Then we may observe and test some data with experimentation and not rely on a rather large Government/Corporate word that the Vax is safe for all.

With my personal experience after the first two Jabs I was getting a lot of Heart palpatations. So I am waiting, passing on the Boost and waiting for this massive emergency use experiment to play out.

Better get some candles I think.

Sorry, I have but a vague idea of the point you seem unable make. As for...

There should probably be some form of compensation put into place for players that test positive. Otherwise you are setting up a system where it will 'pay' to show up with COVID and play anyways
