I wish we could have the same deals that sites gave 10+ years ago. So many rooms were just giving away free money and free bonuses in hopes that they could attract players and it worked. There was a lot of money to be made in online poker from 2003 till 2006 when sites like party poker allowed USA players. Would love to see it become more popular again online.

Poker Boom 2.0? Nevada Revenues for June Come Close to 2007 Record

Given the WSOP was running during the month of June, that would definitely help with the revenue. However, when numbers are close to what they were to Nevada's 2007 record, do you think there is a noticeable increase with poker?
I hope this is a start of a poker boom. Sites like ignition that weigh heavily on casino games and link playthrough bonuses to casino games bother me though. Any chance the house has of increasing odds in favor of the house it will take. It concerns me that the number of poker tables is decreasing. To me poker is the only game of skill allowed due to the house just getting rake and having no stake in the game. To me the only hope is that these televised tournaments bring in enough gamblers to make the casinos expand the number of tournaments and tables. That combined with legalized online sites in every state could create a boom. Also, the casinos could be forced to create more tournaments to compete with the extra online traffic.

Boom

It will likely still be tough until more places are open to U.S. players, but hopefully this is a good sign!

I blame, I mean give credit to CC, they contacted me on my birthday last year to let me know that yes there are places that are at least pretty decent sites for US players to play. And to come back and see what I have been missing all of these years.
I had played on a few sites that were just so bad there was no way I would play there seriously or even more than a couple times a week.
I had to restart my free roll membership before playing any of CC tourneys, which was a good thing really. Having been out of it for so long I really needed the time to reread some posts and get the feel of the game once more.
It has taken some time, but I feel better every day and I am starting to remember more about how I used to play. I was really getting the hang of it when everything stopped for the US. Thank you again CC.

It seems to be trending in the right direction. I’ve been watching season 15 WPT shows on tv lately. They scroll past season winners and amounts during the show and there is an uptick in prize money the last few seasons. As well, there was at least one tournament that has been on the go since season 1 and season 15 had the highest turnout ever, so things starting to look good again.

Just need more tv exposure I think, at least here in canada to generate more interest and revenue.

It's great news but doesn't have the same feel as the first one. I get nostalgia just thinking about how awesome poker was for me between 2003-2011. I think online poker must be back in the United States for the true poker boom 2.0 to happen! I pray for the day pokerstars comes back across all states and where all states and people in the US can play with others across the world!

As far as online poker is concerned, it sure helps that there a lot more people now who use the internet than 10-15 years ago. Hopefully someday real positive news will hit that will help expand the game. Sure would help if a new game got people interested instead of mainly focusing on Texas Holdem.

I think Boom 2.0 is definitely here if not almost here. The only difference is the poker climate in general. I mean players are better overall and sites have tightened up and are giving out less and less bonuses/benefits. But people WANT to play and should be given that right, completely.
