I read that article last night... i think them taking everything is a little bit much. they should probably give him the opportunity to pay it off in payments but the 1st payment being half of those winnings. if they take it all the guy is going to think of more ways to scam and steal. the guy already did jail time that was his sentence. its like charging him 2 times on the same crime its not even legal the country made thousands and thousands of $$$$ off of him while he was incarcerated that should have been part of his restitution so why make the guy pay again and if they wanted more they should have given him a longer prison sentence. either pay or do jail time not both! like i said prison was his punishment

I'm not sure how the country makes money off prisoners, in fact they cost quite a considerable amount. I thought it was quite funny (I'm from Manchester too btw) and equally just. If he is good enough then he can win more tournaments.

He was convicted, but could've been that he took a plea deal because he didnt want to take the risk of losing at trial(which could've cost him years behind bars). This doesn't mean he actually commited the crime he was accused of, he just didn't want to risk his life, fighting this charge (bc he knew he would likely lose at trial). He probably figured he'd pay restitution etc. and move on with his life. Unlucky for him, he hit big and now they want everything he won.

I don't disagree at all...if that was part of the plea he took, then so be it. He has to pay back what he owes

"Big Brother" is always watching lmao!! I won't lie that would suck winning a decent amount only to have it ripped away, however, in this case its totally justified.

If you want to break the law, I suggest you don't, but if you do... expect to do the time, or pay the fine (or both).

Talk about a bad beat..
