the first thing the dealer should of done was call security or the manager and have the player escorted out, i was not a witness and we really dont know what transpired, but i think getting the manager and security involved first is the way to handle rude customers

thats crazy , if patches did something like this ,this guy had to have provoked him pretty badly still no excuse for that but sometimes you just reach a breaking point unfortunately it happened here

I wasn't a witness either and all we have to go on is the recount of events from other witnesses.

If everything went down as it was stated, who knows how many time Patches was provoked and who knows if Patches had tried to settle him down. Calling the manager or security would have likely been the best course of action but we don't know what had been done up to that point either.

What I think I like most from this story, one of the many who donated to the GoFundMe page, said '“Make this a blessing. One door closes and other awesome doors open.”

I think the fact that the dealer still went after that guy after they were broken up did count against him, Also that guy could be a whale.

My first impression after viewing the video is he deserved to be fired for losing his cool and chasing the guy around the casino. But after reading that this is one of the best dealers and that everyone knows and appreciates, then he should have at least been given a chance to defend his actions and not just fired without even a second chance.

The truth is very outside the behavior, always at a poker table they will reach their limit but it is not stop to end the blows that is the idea of ​​playing trying to unbalance the opponent and hope they lose control

I am 72 years old,and i dont even know the world we live in today.In the US,alot of the problems are caused by the outgoing problem causer in Donald Trump.I wasnt there,but i can tell you that if the N word was used, i can understand that happening.People right now have no respect for other people.Even in the play and attitude of the very free rolls that we play.

No you can't, and it is a terrible thing to say to someone, and is very sad to see someone lose his job after being goaded like that by some loudmouth. You also can't blame the employer for firing someone who has physically attacked a customer. We all have breaking points, and unfortunately this poor man reached his. I'm going to look up his GoFundMe and help him out a little bit.

I know what it is like to have an explosive temper, and the repercussions of letting it take control of your actions. I can definitely empathise with him, and truly hope that he will learn from this as I have and continue on with a long, happy, and secure life.

This is a lack of security. Poker room should protect their staff. Unfortunately some players start to insult dealers when they lost. I witnessed couple cases myself years ago in casino. This things unacceptable.

Thought it said there was fight. Pretty tame compared to some of the folks who been straight knocked out at a table.

Based upon the video I disagree with you about him keeping his job. It looks like the player was still seated when it began so, unless the player made a move towards the dealer and/or threatened physical violence, the dealer would be the aggressor by attacking the player. If the dealer had just responded verbally I'd agree with you, but there are very few if any businesses that will forgive physical violence.

It isn't worth the risk of injury to other customers or employees. Maybe give him a second chance after a period of counseling, and being given a clean bill of health, by a mental health professional. If they have a policy of unpaid suspensions that might be the best way to handle a valued long time employee, but if not then termination is the appropriate response by an employer.

Honestly though - from the video I can't determine anything.

I really can't even determine who the main belligerents are.

For example at the end of this video there are two people on top of the person being held against the table?

There is a lot of pushing and shoving.

I think I saw a floorman in there early and he got shoved out?

I'm sure the Aria has much better footage from their 50 cameras aimed at the table.

Rumor was he is supposed to turn himself in today.

Apparently the player decided that poker is a very passive sport and decided to add a little physical exercise while forgetting the norms of decency))) But seriously, I don't understand why he was fired, perhaps the dealer simply had no way to avoid a fight !!!

I watched the video and also read a few of the, what I think are, second hand accounts of the incident. Apparently the player was berating the dealer, called him the N-word and threw a beer on him before attacking him in the dealer box. Now from a human perspective, I can't blame Patches for wanting to body slam the guy through one of those poker tables like it was WWE match. But as I learned when I was in the Navy, being in the right doesn't necessarily justify how you react in the situation. I'm afraid that Patches may have to learn that lesson the hard way, as I did. The bottom line is that he shouldn't have gone after the player once they were separated and the player was retreating. I'm sure that's what cost him his job. I hope it doesn't cost him his dealer's license. But I also have to question where the hell security was at. It seems a little crazy that other players had to intervene and you never see any security personnel arrive before the video ends.

Golden rule in the Hospitality industry the customer is always right. I have seen so many disrespectful customers in my life it makes me sick. Bottom line here is the bottom line pun inteneded. When in doubt call your boss or walk away to have your job another day. Capo1014

Well the good old adage is everyone at some point has a breaking point should patch up and fired I don't know I don't think so I know the player should have been kicked out of the of the on card room especially in the time of a pandemic does anybody know what happened to the player in question that attack patch I like to know what happened to that player.

I read an article that mentioned twitter posts stating that Patches had been charged with assault. The article stated that those were unverified rumors. I'm not a legal scholar, but I don't see why he would be charged with assault. According to accounts of eyewitnesses in the room at the time, Patches was the one that was attacked. Of course the video does not show the incident from the beginning, but when it starts, Patches seems to be pinned against the table in the dealer's box, which would seem to go along with statements saying that was where Patches was attacked. You can see that he was off balance. But once he did regain his balance he seemed to have no trouble pushing the player off of him, which would explain why the player started retreating once he had lost that advantage. I'm thinking that once he felt Patches' strength, he realized his mistake and started scrambling to get away, throwing chairs in the path behind himself to keep Patches from catching up to him. It may have been wrong for Patches to go after him, which it can clearly be seen that he did. But never having caught up with him, I don't see how he could be charged with assaulting him. All of the pushing and shoving seemed to occur during the initial scuffle which the player reportedly initiated.

Interesting to watch but really, how did security not get involved earlier on this is beyond me. I mean anytime I see any player start to become even remotely disturbing to other players or staff the security is there like a hawk out of no where

The guy was probably fired, and this is absolutely normal on the part of the management, otherwise it will not be possible to preserve reputation. And who was the initiator of what happened is obvious. Even though I'm on the dealer's side, it's undeniable that he knew what job he was getting. Stalemate situation.

If the dealer actually through punches then yes he should be disciplined, which is at the discretion of the casino. I was able to see the video but there is enough security in casinos to get there quickly and handle it. All the imployee needs to do is step away and try to protect themselves and other customers. Not get involved. The casino is liable for his actions and can and will be sued no matter how the fight started.

The video is not complete and therefore we will not find out the truth. Words and provocation led to conflict. As they say, out of two arguing, one is a scoundrel and the other is a fool.

Normally you'd never see this in a casino. Almost all poker players know the correct phrase to use in these situations... "LET'S TAKE IT OUTSIDE". LOL

Once your outside the casino, you can duke it out freely without affecting the casino or the other players. This is a common courtesy used by almost all poker players who fight. LOL Yes it is stupid to physically fight someone over a stupid card game, but humans will be humans, and conflict happens at times. All players understand you shouldn't make the bad situation worse by getting a lifetime ban from the casino for fighting... so almost all players know to "take it outside" and square up (and square off) out there, not in here!!!

Of course, in this rather odd case, one of the combatants CANNOT "take it outside", because his job requires him to remain inside and keep dealing. So the option really wasn't available here, and that's how it ended up like this.
