6000 Casino jobs in England could be lost due to Covid 19 closures
Casinos in England were due to reopen on August 1. However, a last-minute decision by Prime Minister Boris Johnson means they'll remain closed for at least two more weeks. Head of the British Betting and Gaming Council, Michael Dugher, has branded the move 'highly illogical' and a 'wrecking ball' for the industry in the UK.
A meaningless decision , what could actually change in two just weeks ??? Many have lost their jobs , some were retrained during the lockdown so as to be prepared for the new era , the new disinfection methods applied and the rules , now they cannot get back to work , Casinos made preparations , so as to be prepared for the new era , with dividers , or other protection methods , now everyhting goes back from schedule Governement has to pay for damages and losses to the casinos and many other busineesses and workers , they have their share of responsiilities for their contradictory decisions ....
The decision not to reopen earlier makes no sense when pubs and restaurants have been allowed to open. There is no greater risk for casinos compared to these and is unnecessarily jeopardising people’s livelihoods. Ridiculous.
By the look of things, the covid-19 pandemic isn't going to be over in perhaps YEARS, and since poker players sit so close together during live poker tournaments, i don't see us going back to our old ways in a long time
