Issues with PokerStars withdrawal

Hey all,
I’m wondering if anyone else has had an issue like mine and if so what the outcome was?...
I’ve been playing on pokerstars for about 6 months now. I have deposited a lot of money abs withdrew funds via direct bank transfer into my Scotiabank account which is joint with my husband. I had a big win the other day playing in the casino $18,000 Canadian. I would deposit in the past with etransfer and sometimes echeques both from my joint account which is the linked bank account to my stars account for withdrawals and sometimes from my other Scotiabank account whiling is an individual account. When choosing the bank account to link to my stars account I chose my joint account as it was the first one I clicked in my App for the banking details as I didn’t even think twice since it’s been a joint account since 2007. When I attempted to withdrawal it went on hold pending review. I had already sent in my license and utility bill previously to verify my account but now they wanted my bank statement. When I went in the app to download the last statement I almost died when I noticed that only my husband’s name was on there!! I called the bank immediately and they told me that my name was indeed on the account as well and to visit my home branch to have this fixed. They advised that in the meantime I could send a void cheque, direct deposit form etc. That would show my name, address and account number proving my co ownership to this account. I sent all of the above to stars security explaining the situation but they would not accept this. My husband and I made several trips to the bank since then and they indicated that the account was not set up correctly when we opened it basically admitting error on their end. They fixed it and said my name would appear on the next statement snd also provided a copy of proof of when they account was opened showing the account number and both mine and my husband’s signatures along with a printout of our bank profile showing names addresses and the account number but stars still won’t accept this!! They keep saying to send a statement which I explained to them multiple times what had happened still sent the last statement with my husband’s name along with all other docs proving it’s my account too. Now my money is just stuck in limbo until we get our new statement at the end of this month! I also requested a letter through upper management at Scotiabank but not even sure if this will be enough as I have already sent so much evidence. I feel like they are just trying to steal my winnings at this point....

I have not had this issue, but I am sure, it will eventually be resolved. They just need to make sure, you are transferring to your own account, and that no money laundering is going on. This is something, they are obliged to do by your government.

Yes I am hopeful just totally frustrated with my bank. Lol. Thanks for your feedback:)

Good morning, look what I recommend that you do is the following: 1.- Do not play in the room until the problem is solved, since due to the state of frustration you are in, you could play badly and that would make you lose your legally obtained gains. 2.- As an alternative to withdrawal, you have the possibility of transferring part of your winnings to another player who is completely trustworthy and that he will return the money transferred to you. 3.- Not all is lost, you will surely get a solution to your problem. Congratulations on winnings and please relax, you should get your money sooner or later.

until we get our new statement at the end of this month!
In Europe you can get the statement when you visit the bank, they will just print it for you instantly, or it will be mailed to you next day. At least in the main banks, hence the situation that you need to wait till the end of the month is quite unusual, especially when the bank admitted their fault.

I do not think Pokerstars holds your winning mischievously, most likely thy need to report the large sum to the government money-laundering unit that requires a bank statement (not PS themselves) .

Yes the account was set up incorrectly and only my husband’s name was appearing on the statements as he is primary holder. These are automatically generated each month by the banks system and cannot be changed once issued - this is why I have to wait until the next statement for my name to appear now that they have updated it to display both names attached to the account. I am waiting for a letter now from upper management to confirm that it is also my account. I have had this account for 14 years so very frustrating situation.

In canada joint bank accounts are common for husband and wife. I just received an updated statement from the bank and forwarded it to PS. I think this will satisfy what they require from me and am excited to finally receive my winnings! :))

and another example of having your Ducks all in a row,,,if you don't,,,,you will have trouble. :eek: (i hope it works out tho,,,and it will if she is patient,,,)

Recommend using the exclude facility in responsible gambling until your documentation is sorted and your able to withdraw.
Play somewhere else for awhile be patient stop playing there,
You will regret losing that roll due to being delayed like many other players on the forum in the past if still able to play with it and unable to withdraw good luck.

Yes thank you all for your support and feedback. The funds luckily are being held pending the review of my documents so I have no access to it to even be tempted to play with it! And yes it was a stupid mistake on my part for not double checking these things before adding that account. Thank goodness everything is 100% legit and I have now been provided proper documentation from my bank to verify this. Now it’s just the waiting game to hear back from Stars that my withdrawal is approved! I will definitely update once it is. :)

I have never had any problems with pokerstars, I believe pokerstars is the platform that has the fastest transactions in online poker games, I had no problems with withdrawals and deposits, but I have friends who have had banned accounts, and others who have failed withdraw on account of speech from valid documents.
