started playing poker on land-based casinos back during Uni days. when i started working and had a family, it's became harder and tiring to drive just to play.

playing online has been more convenient, safer and efficient. since then i played other card games, even slots and roulette online at Casinobernie.

plus, as long as you have a decent and good online casino, you can even maximise the bonuses and free plays.

Most of players i think because it is confortable..It is chip for all .. In a casino you cannot play a tournament with a buy-in 1.10$ for example..And most important online pro players cannot read so well like live.

In many regions poker is prohibited and people who like playing poker, but in their regions they can't do it 'legally' play online. There are the big group of people who think that they will win much money playing online poker, because they think that on day they will find a pattern which will lead them to win. And for sure people like playing online poker because the range of the buy ins are from few cents to thousands of dollars.

It's a pretty simple answer. Convenience and quantity. Up until they legalized online poker in my state, I was only able to make it out to casinos or private tournaments less than 10 times a year. Since I created my online account, I probably average 5-7 tournaments each week. Also, since regular casinos need to pay their staff and also make money, it's impossible for them to run these low $1 - $10 buy-in tournaments. Online poker makes this possible since the game is automated and the only thing the casino is paying for is the electricity to run the game on their servers (which is tiny in these days of virtualization and cloud computing). Being able to play so many games and encounter so many different players and situations is what helps you become a better player.

I'm sure there are many reasons. I'd say convenience, excitement, addiction, no where in their area to play. Some people make a living doing it, some just enjoy it. I play to pass time and to win. It's a tough game though, but overall fun.
