Why do bad hands keep beating good hands online?

this is my first post and i hope you like it.

usually when we play online, we have the doubt of what really is a good hand since sometimes a 2,3 can beat pair of A's.

It seems that there is much more going on in online poker than a real game.
It is clear that a good poker player proves it table after table and tournament after tournament, but sometimes you can get lucky.

Have you had the feeling that some player has had unbelievable streaks of luck winning chips with very low hands betting all in vs very good hands for several hands in a row?
If you have seen it, in which poker room is it seen more?

When we play poker, we don't have the doubt of what really is a good hand. 23suited is 17% favorite vs AA and around 13% when it is off.
Of course those hands will win sometimes, but when considering a large sample of hands their are cooked and you are loosing money on the long term.
Micro limits online is like lottery (this isn't poker) that's why we see these kind of spots where KK is losing vs 54o and many other example, but in the mid-stakes you won't find this kind of play.
I've seen many players that had an unbelievable streaks of luck (on pokerstars), but they never won the tourney or made the final table. They win 5-6 hand in a row and then bustout. Are they good players ? NO. Are they winning players ? NO

This happens all the time in all poker rooms, but it doesn't last long.
In the long run, as a result, weak hands will always lose.

In my opinion the sites want to keep weak players on the sites so they spread the money around. That way their rake keeps coming in.

I have wondered also why my good hands keep getting beaten by garbage. I would like to think it is truly random but I do wonder if some sites reward bad players in order to keep them in the game, generating rake, rather than busting them out.

The simple answer is: Because that's poker. The real answer is more complex. You insinuate that it happens a lot less in live games. I hate to break it too you but the rate of bad beats happen in both games at the same rate, it is all mathematical. It just seems less since you see less hands. You might see 250 hands at a casino in 8 hours of play. If I play 8 hours online I will see over a 1000. So the perception of bad beats is skewed by the number of hands seen. One last thing to remember is if you play private or charity games, your chances of being cheated goes up exponentially.

The reason you think Bad hands win more often is because you are playing more hands you can imagine playing online and your brain memorize what is turning "wrong". A night in casino is 10 min online and if you are playing 1 table.

Your comment is excellent, thank you because it also served me.
Those low hands sometimes win because they are within the odds but in the long run there is no way those players will succeed if they abuse low percentage chances for their decision making.

definitely AA is the good hand over 23 what I think is that in preflop bets you have to get junk hands out by increasing bets, then analyze what cards are revealed in the community cards and thus decide how far arrive or if the rival could form a game

It is unfortunate. It is seen online more because there are more hands played per hour than in live poker. To me it has happened in live tournaments as well and it more frostrating when it happens there than when it happens online. The omly thing I can say is study the table and how the cards are playing out that day at that particular table and then you can more or less beat those great hands with bad cards and build your stack to a great amount to make the FT. Good luck and may the poker gods be with you.

So first of all, I would like to say that it doesn't really have to do with whether you play online or live. It's about the players who are simply willing to take any risk with garbage hands. I went to a casino a few years ago and a new player came to our cash table and the blinds hadn't even been set yet and he went before the blinds were simply laid Allin. Everyone at the table was shocked and said that this was not allowed, but the dealer said it was unusual but not illegal. I don't have much experience with live poker but I think what I saw there was enough for me to say yes everything that happens in online poker can also happen in live poker. The only difference I see is that because some people don't take online poker seriously, they're just too wide to play nonsense hands. In principle, any hand can win or lose. I've also lost with AA to 23 and won with 22 against AA. Sometimes luck is with you and sometimes it is against you. Good luck everyone at the tables

Most of this has already been said. Basically, you don't notice that every now and then you beat the better cards with worse cards.
But in the long run, the better hands always win. The probability is not a rulebook but something you can't change. Therefore, it is a guarantee in the long run.

Of course I have, but it is the nature of statistic that also "unbelievable streaks of luck" is one possible outcome. So I try to relax and wait for that possibility to hit me. I know it will for sure, I just have to play long enough ;-)

Yes it does happen often in real money micro stakes on (PokerStars) especially if you play 2 tables with thousands of players.
I find myself playing constantly on the defensive and yes I do find it frustrating because it's programmed that way.

Pokerstars makes a ridiculous amount of money minute after minute, day after day, year after year. They definitely wouldn't risk that just to increase the rake by a small percentage by rigging their software... I doubt they need to do anything sketchy to get a bunch of gamblers to gamble hahahah

man, poker is actually a game of odds, so it's not every time you get a good hand and win, a hand worse than yours can win, but most of the time you win with a better hand

Online poker is a real game. I played a lot of live and have seen a lot. I have seen players drop $200 in the pot on the river with Ten high. I have seen players call huge all in 3 bets with 62o as its a favorite hand. While it happens less live due to the fact your spending more to play it does happen. Most people dont play that much live poker per year but we can play over 70 hands on a table online and multi-table as well.

That's not just online. Be happy about it! Just because of that the fishes play poker. They win sometimes but most likely you win!
