Page 18 - This is a discussion on What Do You Do During Breaks? within the online poker forums, in the Online Poker section; What's up guys? I was just wondering how you spend your 5 min. breaks. Eat? Smoke? Nap? Or run around real quick and be back
During the break, the first thing I do is go to the kitchen for water or coffee. Then I go outside for a smoke. You also need to go to the toilet, there will be little time during the game. It is better not to take a nap - 5 minutes will not solve anything, but you can easily fall asleep. Was a sad experience already. During some breaks I don't go anywhere, I just sit in social networks, mentally rest.
I personally exercise and try to relax the mind and stay in calm mindset, ofc occassionaly I would grab a drink at some food/snack and the odd toilet trip too. Everynow and then I will put on some calming music to help me center and relax/calm myself.
Coffee, cigarette and toilet break. Although if I don't need to go to the toilet or get a coffee then I spend the break checking social media/discord and keeping up with what's going on.
Moreso lately, I've been finding myself firing up a Grand Tour during break as a sprint will generally be finished by the time the other tournaments are back from break or at least getting extremely close to finishing if it hasn't quite ended yet.
If I am playing on the PC I stand up and walk around for a bit.
If I am playing on the phone I usually do something else already like watching TV or doing stuff around the house. Then I do not need the break as much.
I get up and walk around. I live in the tropics and I don't have air conditioning so if it's during the heat of the day I'll get cold water from the fridge. I'll pet cats or give scratchies to my two old dogs. There's nothing like a cat purring or a dog's tail wagging.
It depends on my need at the moment. For example, if I'm thirsty I take the opportunity to drink water. If I'm hungry, I'll prepare a snack. If I feel like going to the bathroom, I take the opportunity. As I said, it depends a lot on my need at the time of the break.
In the five-minute breaks, I usually go to the toilet, perhaps having a snack on some kind of bar. I check how many players are left in the tournament, evaluate opponents, and just wait for the game to resume.
