I have my feeling about online poker. I love it. I hate it. I want to ban myself. lol I just can't get over the fact of what had happened on black friday back in 2012 and the fact that it is always possible for them to do it all again. I don't trust it, but can't seem to ever get away from it. Whats everyones input on that?

I've seen some pretty impossible stuff online. I saw quads two hands in a row and I've been dealt aces twice in a row the same tourney. Makes me question how random it really is.

Back2Back2Back Pocket 10s, think this happened a week ago. I was so baffled, I just shoved them every time xD

Proability Quote from another user:

"Your probability of getting TT on any given hand is 4/52 * 3/51 = 1/221.If you have just gotten TT on a particular hand, your probability of getting TT on both of the next two hands is 1/221 * 1/221 = 1/48,841.
Your probability of getting "the same pocket pair" (not necessarily TT) on your next three consecutive hands is 1/17 * 1/221 * 1/221 = 1/830,297.
Your probability of getting TT on your next three consecutive hands is 1/221^3 = 1/10,793,861."

With BitCoin tanking, I have been thinking about this. Especially for USA players who don't have a lot of options for depositing/withdrawing. Will be interesting how the poker sites will handle "withdrawing in the same method that was used to deposit." Guess we will wait and see...

now it has become much more difficult to play, I can't win anything. 3 years ago it was easier, took first place in the Freeroll among 10,000 people, almost always in prizes in cash tournaments. now nothing happens

Really feels rigged sometimes...
When you can’t finish a flopped flush draw 50 times in a row but your opponents hit every crazy 2 outer on the river...

But most people will never play enough hands to expect a statistical outcome. You must Play a lot before luck is not anfactor any more.

Just work on taking the losses easy. That is a very important skill in poker... too bad I don’t have it:mad:

I think you either accept everything that's going on in online poker and follow the rules of the game just how they are OR decide that there is something shady going on and it doesn't sit well with you. I see no point in developing paranoia and driving yourself crazy with guesses while searching forums for confirmations or disproofs of your guesses. Because you will find both :D
Just take it or leave it mentality, until you personally face with some undeniable facts. Obviously you should be careful with your money, treat every room with some precaution and don't keep there all your BR, but that's like the first rule of poker - once you deposited money threat this money as already lost.

My opinion

It must be hard at times to figure out witch player deserves to win. It really isn't that hard. Its just a mathematical formula. The Percentage Win is the Number Winners divided by the Number of People. Then check the equation by comparing it with The Number of Times Won divided by The total Number of Times played. If the first equation is bigger then the second equation then you lose tournament. If it is higher you can win providing there are not too many that haven't won. You see everybody has a good game. If they want a game to decide who should be elite. The game is probably chess, checkers or mahjah. The computer can only tell you its an illegal move.

Yeah. I cannot trust online poker. Withdraw when I hit $500 for fear when I wake up in the morning the site is taken down. I have hid at least 8 sites walk with my money, so not my first rodeo.

Black Friday was a US phenomenon, that just happened to affect players in other countries as well, because one of the sites, that the US DOJ cracked down on, went down as a result. Eventually however PokerStars took over Full Tilt and compensated players fully. If you live in the US, you should probably be somewhat vigilant about playing online poker, because the sites accepting US players are all offshore and unregulated (grey market). But if you live in other parts of the world like Europe, I dont see, why this should be a concern at all. Several sites have licenses here, so online poker is just as legal and regulated as psysical casinos.

I always suspect everything, especially because it is some programmed. But some poker rooms have great credibility.

Sometimes it feels like its rigged, plus theres player collusion, bots, AI.. I guess it is what it is. I only really play at 888 and mostly freerolls, micros and the odd BLAST run but I am up $ and never had any issues depositing or withdrawing, and thats since like 2005

Black Friday happened because of US politics, the pokersites were the victims.

If you feel there is the slightest chance of there being a significant risk on an online site deposit only what you feel is worthy of your bankroll, but in terms of the most well known names in the industry you should feel they are clued up on scammers prevailing in Cash Games or Tournaments. Unless you have the time to be wondering how genuine the players at your table are, then your gameplay is going to falter with that going on in the back of your mind. It’s enough to be concerned if your hand is goign to stand up as well as have the thought, why is player X going all in with what you may believe is a weak hand.

Are some sites more trustworthy than others? Have there been any negative reports on PokerStars or 888poker ?

Although times have get tougher, it is still possible to make actual money in online poker. I myself am the example, as I am net positive. Perhaps not the brightest example, but still...
Much on it depends on proper bankroll management.

I'm inclined to trust the unregulated US sites far less than I would trust PokerStars (if I were able to play there...) since if I made deposits and invested into their sites, I would have no recourse if they were to rip me off in some way. I believe that once more states in the US regulate gaming, these unregulated sites will lose traffic significantly and who knows what they'll do?

Long story short: don't deposit money you can't afford to lose on poker in any circumstance, live or online, amateur or pro. If you expose yourself to too much risk, you'll never survive no matter how good you are.

Nah, nobody makes any money if they f this up again. just try to do your research and see who is the most trusted site or who has the most players at any given time then that means its where most of us want to deposit our money. It also means there are more people satisfied with the product. Its exactly like when you want to get sh..tfaced and you in an unfamiliar neighborhood, you ask around to find out where you can get the best sh.t.

I think playing poker online is no different than any other website that you visit on the internet that accepts payments. YOUR MILES MAY VARY. So just exercise good judgment and research what and who you are depositing your money to. Most of the site that I do play poker on I started out with a very small bankroll or got staked to help promote and built up my bankroll from there. Once I make a certain amount I withdraw my profit and leave a little bit on the site for me to continue playing.
