First part of this topic: does anyone on here know any authoritative sources on measurable properties of variance as it applies to poker in short and long term? I'm not interested in the basic definition and stats in terms of expected appearances of pairs and draws on a board. Looking for something a bit more in depth and comprehensive.
Second part: what does everyone think about variance in terms of being able to measure it and differentiate it from deliberate engineering / designed outcomes in poker? Can you really tell the difference, assuming you have a hand tracker, if there are spells of randomness and spells of non-randomness?
