Played a $5 TURBO rebuy on titan today...and all I have to say is wow....
It's like they took the skill completely out of the game by combining rebuys with turbos - people will push with any two cards its like a freeroll.
Never gonna play em again...

Rebuys are something you should stay away from. Most rebuys have players that really don't know how to play but have the money to rebuy and rebuy and rebuy and rebuy...

Exactly, keep away from games with bad players that bump the pool up with no chance of winning, and invariably come back with less chips than you've got. Stick to games with good players.

(I'm being sarcastic).

Well, that's my opinion anyway. Is there anything I've posted the entire time I've been here that you actually agreed with, Rob?

If i'm being honest, probably not. It is what the forum is for though, chatting about cards, but i'm sorry if i've annoyed you.

No, you didn't annoy me. It would take a lot to annoy me. I was an honest question.

Cool - I dont agree with what you said re the rebuy (although from what Chuck said, the Turbo should be avoided). If from the start you budget for one rebuy and 1 add-on, then I think you could find them very profitable (i.e, view a $3 rebuy as a $10 tournament). Think of it this way - a $10 tournament and a $3 rebuy starting off with the same amount of players may end up with the same prize pool. After an hour, who would you rather be playing against - 50 players that are still playing with their original chips, or 50 players, 30 of which have already been knocked out once, twice, 3,4,5+ times?

Turbo's are good for people who wanna play an MTT but dont have hours to sit and play a freezeout with 15 minute blinds. It takes away a big proportion of the skill involved but they are fun at the same time

Add to that a rebuy, then yes it is pandamonium! They are great fun and you cant seriously think you are gonna win anything substantial by continuously playing in these but they do offer a quick way of making/losing some $$$

You should try the Laddies Express to their Sunday Lunch tourney. It costs $58 to enter, you get 100 chips and the blinds increase every minute, so by the time the BB arrives at you, you are all in with whatever cards you are dealt! Needless to say this is a complete waste of money but I have qualified for a few nice tournies through some cheap expresses

I quite enjoy the Turbo format, but I have previously registered my disgust on how stupid people are with the re-buy format. I found there was no skill, just luck for who ever ends up with the best draw since 1/2 the table is all-in before the flop over 50% of the time up to the break.

just think about the name for a second: TURBO Re-buy

it sounds like a gimmick from the start. honestly, i have never played one, so i guess i can't say too much about it - but it seems like that type of structure is built around luck. i like what colin said about it being a quick way to win/lose some money lol. . .

:D

turbo's are not that great, but re-buys? I love them. But I play by this rule, play tight, and do not re-buy. Pay the entry, then sit and wait for the premium hands, and then, and only then, play them aggressively, as the majority of players in the early rounds have more money then sense, and will call with anything. I don't always make the money, but when I do it pays off.
