I prefer to believe in the honesty of online poker programs. This in relation to the sites already consolidated in the global online poker market.

Big names in the industry like pokerstars, partypoker, GG poker and so on have quite a reputation to defend so they invest serious resources to prevent bots from playing on the tables. That being said i am sure that there are some skilled people who can bypass the protections and win some money via bots but i don't think that at the big sites there are many such bots.

A few years ago I heard that at the poker tables you were facing artificial intelligence, being stunned without giving it any importance, until a few days ago a user appeared offering me a bot that can take me all the fun to have a good time perhaps for some pennies. Is this a reality, are there these types of disloyal users who do it out of ambition more than anything, and if they do, how do they violate the security of the rooms or was it a simple scammer offering me a hoax? :joyman:

The poker bots are determined by the security system of the room. You have little chance of using the bot. It was a crook. If he had an excellent bot, he would have used it himself and would not have offered it to you.

It is said again and again that there are people who use bots, but serious poker sites have taken precautions and it is not possible to play on such sites with bots. If you try it anyway you get a ban for life on the one hand, and on the other hand this can also have legal consequences, you can be charged with fraud. Everyone sees themselves in the mirror and there are people who try such things over and over again, but in my eyes they are cheaters and it has nothing to do with poker

Bot/AI has long been an issue since. Maybe this is the reason why the likes of Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonios, etc. don't play online poker anymore because they know that these things exists. I know that the competitive sites knows how to counter this problems. As a microstakes player I worry less about these things.

I understand that the person who uses the bot will be banned. But I think that the bot will not be able to beat an experienced player.

I kinda think that those pros don't play much online cause they just arent too good at it. They are live players. Online is a different game.

I think in this case you were dealing with a scammer. You should not count on easy money, it is better to always rely on your own skills and experience.

Yes, let’s face it, if you have rake back, you get money for just sitting at a table. 100 bots at 100 tables will earn income. Without any risk.

Someone has to cover the cost of the rake back, the solo recreational player, so… miraculously another 2 outer hits the river.

They should come up with software for us to detect bots in our games.

I have always suspected the poker sites themselves are running bots. But I have no proof.

While I could certainly go all "conspiracy theory" here, that's not what I'm trying to imply... basically, my idea is that if sites are running their own bots, it would be no different than a live brick-and-mortar casino using "prop players", which for those not aware, these are players who are paid an hourly wage by the casino to show up and play poker on a specific schedule. Prop players use their own bankroll, and they play their own game of poker. But the casino chooses to pay prop players for the reason that these props help to fill the tables up at slower times of the day (such as in the mornings)... and a full casino is a happy casino. :D Poker players don't like to walk in and see an empty poker room, they want to see a full poker room with lots of action. Most players would never even realize if someone is a prop player or not, they are not identifiable and they don't have to tell other players they're a prop. There's nothing nefarious going on with prop players in a casino, and to wrap up my analogy, this is my own personal feeling that if an online poker site is running their own bots, they're used in the same way as props. Of course I realize a bot can play "perfect" poker (depending on how well the bot's programming is), but let's not get into the conspiracy theory angle. hahaha

Bots on Pokerstars?

I'm afraid so. I have seen on pokerstars micro stakes tables, especially in micro stakes and HU, lots and lots of repetitive patterns without much foundation of happening on a real player. I'm talking about betting patterns, calls, check raises, folds, etc etc.

I would be very surprised is bots didn't exist, but the majority of them are on certain sites, so you can avoid most of the issue by not playing on sites that don't devote much resources to stopping bots.

ACR Bot checking

The other day I had to take a test on Americas Cardroom while I was in the middle of playing four tournaments at the same time to verify if I was a human and not a bot. I felt a little better after knowing that they do go after players using bots.

I do not think it is very possible and if it happened, the day that fraud is discovered, all the online poker rooms would end, I suppose, because nobody will want to play before that possibility

Last year I went to play one morning and got caught with a bot. He constantly spammed the same phrases in the chat, arousing our suspicions, and we asked in all languages “Are you alive? Can you answer. ”As a result, he spammed all the time in the chat and played accurately, only opened with pairs or strong hands AA JJ AK AQ. I think that a living person would not play like that and would not do stupid things.:)

I am pretty sure there are bots out there and that's why the poker rooms have policies against them. I was suspicious a few times of some players that they might be bots, but I had no way of confirming that.

Those that just flat say that bots don't exist and are not or cannot be used on "reputable" sites are naive. If they did not exist or get used, why would these sites spend so much time and money?
