I finally got around to seeing my stats today and apparently I'm a total fish! :)

Since I started playing in early November, my VPiP is way too high, like 42%, so I need to play less hands. In a narrower view, like the last week, I don't look as bad, so my game's been improving. But, MAN, I didn't start off well.

To be fair, I didn't really get my range down until a few weeks ago -- which cards to play and from what position. So, hopefully over the next couple of months this will start to look much better.

It's good to look at your stats. I'm glad I did it. I was afraid of it being bad, but it's good to know where I need to improve rather than just assuming the worst and never doing anything about it.

Anyway, what do your stats say about you as a player? What have you done to improve your game? What have you learned? I'd love to read more from you guys! :ciao:

My opinion

My stats are down from when I first started playing poker. I go into a lot of bets I didn't go into when I first started. I don't really need the money. Probed I can play poker. Now I like to see if the newbies will call when I have shady cards. The one thing I don't like is I don't seem to get the percentage win at the time of the shady call. I still should win the percentage. I also wonder why people can always have the higher kicker in one card the same and always have the higher pair when both have a pair. Its seems a little fishy. Especially when I know they play those cards. Oh well I win my percentages. All you can ask for.

Just an update, the last several games I've played have been much better. My VPiP has been at 22% or less and there's not much of a gap between it and my PFR. I'm doing my best to stay in range and position and make good plays. :)

I been playing for couple of months now but just started keeping track of my stats turns out I was total fish too. My VPIP was also in the 40% Im trying to bring it down but I get bored and start opening up way to much since I only get to play once a week or so. Any way keep the good work

This is very good to be able to realize you are not playing correctly and to make the proper adjustments to improve your game!! You will feel a lot more comfortable playing if you stay within your ranges and be play position aware.

If you have not noticed, there is many players in the freeroll club that play with a high VPIP and low PFR and do a lot of limping and calling. The typical beginner types that want to see every flop.

Taking some time to study and learn the basic TAG strategy and ranges will pay off big time when you start making the final tables in the FRC tourneys and other games you play.

Typically any VPIP over 20 would be somewhat loose for full ring, somewhere around 14-18 Vpip with 10-16 PFR would be optimal for full ring, with obviously less hands opened from EP and more on the BTN. Also do less calling and more 3-betting. Cold Call% should be low, under 10% and 3-bet should be somewhere between 5-10%. Calling is usually a losing proposition as you give up the initiative and control of the betting which is very important.

Something esle you should consider is learning some push/fold strategy for when you have under 10bb worth of chips. In these shortstack situations it is optimal to just All-in or Fold, and learning when and where to push/fold will make a huge difference in your overall game.

Good luck!!

Where do you get your stats from?

Shark Scope is a site that can help you track your stats and other players stats, as well. I'm at a loss for understanding SS's tracking mechanism, but then again I'm only looking at one site from them (my Lock Poker stats apparently don't matter or have been removed from the stats feature, :(). Considering that I've played mostly at intertops for the past 5 years and that I started making deposits to the site solely for sportsbook purposes 2 yrs prior I believe they're off the mark a bit. But that's another issue. Sorry for rambling, lol. :ciao:

Well first of all THANK YOU, i didn`t know that exists a site that show our stats. Well i just opted in and there aren't all analyses to see how my i'm playing. But it says my ability are 56 and i'm disappointed, but i'm pretty sure that i play to much hands. But still i'm new on this, and i'm getting better, won 6 $ dollar yesterday in 888poker (freeroll). All that's thanks to the math (calculating my odds) and notes during the game.

Greetings!!!

You have made an incredible insight, for you and what is happening around you !

My stats tell me I'm still a loser!

I have to tighten the initial two cards!

I learned that, if the post-flop bet is low. I can call with my pocket pair or draw!

P.S. You have created an incredible post. To my misfortune I can not like it for a second time!

Poker Tracker

I'm in the same boat as you, I downloaded a free 30 day trial of Poker Tracker and my stats are dismal. I know I can at least make to the money in a tournament, or maybe the final table. I need more confidence and be more aggressive. SnGs are my best option, I do best at the Sng. Good luck.

Haha

VPIP = 26
PFR = 12
AGR = 67

I get "Gambler" as my title.

When I'm playing at the tables though I set my stats to show current tournament stats rather than total as I feel it's a more accurate representation of how you're playing at the moment.

You want to be predictable to other players, and then switch up your strategy & completely to throw them off.

Where do you get your stats from?

CardSharks Do Offer the ability to record your Stats and their Poker HUD can also show played hands Stats the played hands stats is where you can see your Leaks like Vpip and Bet in position percentage and attempted steals...

You Can Also Find this information on any Poker HUD...

I use a free opensource Poker Hud [free poker data base] fpdb.exe

It Works for me and gives me hand history and assesses where my leaks are...

This Video Shows a Different HUD than I Use BUT explains very well all the Stats and what they mean... Important INFO... Watch at your pleasure...

Hope this helps....

You may have used to be a TAG
Grip79SetBlack type "poketrepreneurs" teach us to play tight.
Then the sites give us hands that are ahead at the flop, then lose more often than the math suggests on the turn/river, imo
Then the ones who get kickbacks say "Relax, you have to play 2 million hands to REALLY know" Keep raising with two pair on a flush draw board, villain will only win 20%, not the
60 percent you've seen for the last 500 hands.
I wish I didn't spend so much time frustrated by this. It isn't like I can
force CheatonLine or WPCheaT to make a random deal, but I think that's why you feel like we do!
Good Luck at/on the tables!

I went to check my stats & it didn't have any numbers for me... just a couple of statements.
Mine said "you are really Really REALLY good at the pokerzz" & then it said "compared to like Terrykoz and naruto_miu there's like no comparison because you are like so good... and they are like soooo bad" (I totally knew what they meant & I didn't need to see any numbers to know it was true)

The funny thing is that when i first got my poker hud, I tried to get the best stats (according to my hud system) which was this 'eagle' symbol. So I would play in hopes of getting the eagle symbol on my own stats so other players who played me enough would see the eagle symbol themselves on their hud stats of me. I was hoping this would make enemies fear me whenever they saw me at a table. This would help me steal blinds and open pots I figured.
Well before I knew it, I started winning several micro tourneys left and right.Otherwise getting top 3 in a field of 50 players I'd say and this went on until the next day when I dropped my gaming laptop and broke the harddrive. Now I use a shitty 200$ HP laptop from Walmart with no hud, but i do miss those days when i would see that beautiful eagle symbol besides my name, just floating and flying besides me as i killed those small field sngs/tourneys...
But yeah, there really is a strong correlation between stats from your poker hud and ROI I'd say.

I don't think those stats mean everything when it comes to online poker. The only one that matters is profitable or not. Depending on what levels you play at you might look like a total fish.

I have been playing lots and lots of freerolls, like a complete Donkey, and I like it that way. In fact, I want my stats to be as abysmal as possible when someone looks me up on sharkscope. I want to play the worst possible hands as many times as I can in freerolls that way if I do move up in stakes, people will just think I have been a lucky donkey that made profit and will play me like one.

I figure I'll build my reputation for being a total donkey every chance I get if I am profitable and moving up. Not a shark. This way you can profit off of both donkeys and sharks later. Nothing more satisfying than calling shark bluffs with a pair of 2s on the river and them getting pissed off and calling me a donkey while I take their money because they gave away the fact they had nada and making obvious bluffs.

That way I have a chance to win some pots and tourneys before they figure out I can hold my own and adjust against me and start taking my money and I can take the money and run. At the same time other up and coming players will not fear me either.

Being predictable

There are too many rules in poker.
Recently I have received a lot of angry complaints from the guy who lost to me big stack.
After showdown it appeared I have has AQ and I was passive on preflop ‘limper’ as people say here.
He was pushing all the way and lost his set to my full house.
He was angry that I should rise the preflop. I have asked if he was surprised by my hand and he responded YSES!!!
In my opinion he would not push so much knowing I have powerful hand.
Thanks to this I have won lot of chip this time.
Maybe You should not be so predictable following all the rules poker is talking about?

Sometimes better to be a fish than a predictable bad reg.
