It seems that 7 Stud is dying a slow death, especially in online play.

Most of the sites aren't even running games anymore, and the ones that do it is hard to get a game.

Is it time for me to forget about playing stud and and just jump on the holdem train?

I have always enjoyed playing 7 Stud and the unique challenges of the game.

Thank you for posting

If you enjoy the challenges of 7 card stud then you would enjoy playing PLO more than NL.

The pot limit aspect of the game- the 4 hidden cards to 7 card studs 3- will be more in line for your playing enjoyment.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately I think you should start to get over of 7 stud. Although it was a very popular game years ago, I see that the new players don't even learn how to play 7 stud.

You are right. I do prefer PLO over Holdem. As wild as it can be, I also enjoy and do ok in PLO Hi/Lo. Watch out for those danglers!!!!

You are right-----time to move on. I think that Holdem will be the dominant game for years to come. I don't see another game coming along that can overtake Holdem.

I love 7 card stud, but kinda hate PLO. :p

I do think there will be players who always keep loving mixed games such as Stud, I know many regulars. It will not be so much popular because of the prize-pool and people in general can't rate Limit or non-holdem games well.

Yeah , NLH seems to dominat absolutely , then PLO , all other game in cash games seem to vanish . But I guess you could always play some tourneys for 7card stud or such games that do not have many participants or interest in their cash format . Ofcourse the prizepools are rediculous smal in comparison to NLH , but if you like them , if you have an edge on them ..:)

PLO and NLH are about the only games you can find in a casino (online or brick and mortar). Stud games and even limit games are really hard to find.

I can get a game on ACR once in awhile but they are like a flash sale. You can be playing a full table and poop everyone's gone. They have a dollar buy 9n tournament but it starts at 00:15. I don't wanna start a potential four hour game at midnight.

I remember playing it at UB and Absolute Pkr years ago but every time I go to play at ACR there's never anybody playing. I wonder if there are any bs or play-$ games on any sites?

Yes, it is an unpopular game in online poker, very few players play it.
I like to play stud hi/lo tournaments, I have never taken the first places, but I got to the final tables.

7-card Stud is known as "the old man's game".

That's because all the old guys you see at live poker tables, well, when they were much younger, 7-card Stud was probably the most popular game back then.

these days, you're right, few want to play it outside of us mixed game lovers. I despise the fact that "all the cool kids want to play No Limit Holdem", it's so depressing they have little interest in other games that have FAR MORE strategy to them. NL Holdem is almost a joke in terms of simplicity... and yeah I know all about "solvers" and "GTO play". Spare me. The level of strategy at Holdem is one of the lowest of all the poker games and it baffles me why so many love it... well, I suppose it does make sense in a way - today's crowd doesn't want complexity, they want simplicity, and that's what they get with Holdem, that's why they love it compared to all the other games.

I guess I'm a old man now too. LOL I always knew I was born in the wrong era. :)

P.S. Congratulations to Brian Hastings for winning the $10K 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo today at the wsop for his fifth bracelet. He's no old man, but he sure is one of the best mixed game players around.
