Hey people,

Any one got some good recommendations for a Canadian player.

Things like: which sites to play, what sites not to play, what free rolls are out there, so on and so on.

Any information beneficial for a Canadian player would be awesome, Thanks.

Welcome to Cardschat. I'm super excited that someone I asked to join is actually posting!!

CC has freerolls on partypoker, pokerstars, and 888 - these are the sites for "non US Players". They also have FR's on America's Cardroom (or Black Chip Poker), BetOnline, SportsBetting, and intertops for everyone including US Players. There is a big 1000 Euro FR coming up on unibet, and there is a monthly FR on Titan that you have to have signed up through CC (and deposited IIRC) to be eligible. As a Canadian you're eligible for EVERYTHING!

What sites are you already on? That might simplify things.

Thanks for the info bud, I couldn't reply to your message because I need to get my posts count up. Thanks for the referral.

I got accounts on party, stars, 888 and full tilt if that's still around.

I’m from canada and play on 888 and PokerStars. I like both because you can play both on mobile which is how I play. I don’t like being tied to a computer. Play on ipad.

Good luck.

I think FT is no more in Canada. You've already got accounts at the three biggies. There are big CC FR's coming up on PS and 888 that I think require you to sign up soon. There is also a buy-in tourney with $5K added coming up on PP.

As for the rest, I don't know anything about Titan, but there is some info if you search this site. I just signed up for Unibet. It looks a little different. They give you some pretty good FR tickets when you sign up, but you have five Sunday 10AM ET tourneys to use your four FR tix. After that, they do seem to have a few FR's running ever few hours. Lots of "ticket" wins in the FR's - either a "cash" ticket that expires (you have to run the funds through a huge number of hands to get the cash, but just see one flop to extend the ticket), or satellite tickets to tourneys.

Of the lot ACR (BCP), BOL, SB, and IT, it seems to me ACR and BCP repeat each other and only signing up for one or the other is necessary. Any tourney on ACR will be available on BCP and vice versa. Members lament the lack of FreeRolls because there used to be so many. But there are CC FR's every day. It may be a chore to get your money out, but apparently they pay promptly once the path is in place.

BOL and SB are similar, but different. I think most of what's offered on one will be found on the other. CC FR's are a good example. Each week, Freeroll Club members get one FR on each, they do not overlap skin to skin. The big August CC FR however, is available on either. I'm not sure about ease of withdrawal on these sites.

IT is the one I hate (and I'm pretty sure it hates me). Horror stories abound about trying to cash out. Don't accept any bonus offers from them if you sign up because, apparently making impossible play through requirements is just one of the ways they keep from having to pay you your money.

Do you have to make a cahs deposit to play in freeroll tourneys on 888. I signed up for party poker but they want you to make a cash deposit before you can sign up for any freerolls. No much up of a freeroll if that is the case, so I quit party poker

No for 888. However the daily freeroll I play requires level 5 or higher. I reached that with the no deposit bonus they give when you sign up. ($1 cash and 14 50 cent tournament tickets they give out as 2 per day). You do need to win a little to be able to hit level 5. They also have a $1000 monthly Facebook freeroll (password found on their page there). I believe it’s the first Monday of the month at 1:00 pm EST. So tomorrow. Hurry!

More freerolls at higher levels too.

What time zone are you in?
You're eligible for a whole whack of tourneys already.* Just start poking around. On the Home Page, look under the Our Events header, go to the links for "CC.com FreeRolls" and "CC Special Events and real money Tournaments". It will describe a number of (many of which you are not yet eligible for) tourneys.

*Normally, one of the first things I would tell you if you were interested in CC FR's would be to read the OP of this:
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/car...-silver-level-platinum-freeroll-club-452867//
But the times right now make this seem presently unnecessary.

The best = Pokerstars (PS). Good freerolls. Great real and play money games. Super support staff. Usually I also recommend 888Poker (888), but I think they currently have a personnel problem that affects players.

Firstly, at 888, I won a free spin ticket to a money tournament, but I did not get it. Contacting them, a smart-ass guy replied by email - something like "Maybe we should not give you any prizes in future."

Secondly, not feeling well, I decided to play at 888 and PS. 888 declined my card. Via live chat, the rep told me my bank did not accept transactions with online poker sites due to money laundering concerns. I said my card is not related to my bank. They stuck to their guns, and I couldn't deposit. If someone from 888 reads this and does not like what I say or that I do not presently recommend their platform, then look-up the digital records of the email and the live chat.

At PS, I had no problems depositing money or getting prizes. I haven't figured out why 888 refused a card that any casino would be happy to accept. My guess is they hire people whom they do not properly screen for politeness, and who do not know their jobs because of poor or incomplete training. Where money is involved, it's best to avoid platforms until such internal problems are resolved. For this reason, I only recommend PS at this time.

If you have problems depositing money or collecting prizes at any platform, you will likely have problems cashing-out, too. Just something to remember.

If you play Jackpot FreeRolls, you've probably already noticed the differences on the sites you play on. But since the big three always have huge fields, you might prefer the ACR, BOL, SB fields. Also BOL/SB have really clear, user friendly interfaces. ACR is not bad. InterTops, if it has Jackpot FR's will have the smallest field (and the worst interface).

I canadian and I play on both 888 and Pokerstars. If you have not signed up for pokerstars, be sure to setup an account at Pokerstar School to get a bunch of free tourney tickets and sit n go tickets by doing the challenges, and if you make a deposit you will recieve a bunch of extras for opt-in to all the promos before you deposit. For my 30$CAD deposit I recieved probably 50$ worth of extras which is great. If dont sign up thru the school you get some extras, but not nearly as much.

888 also has a great no deposit bonus which gives you some free tickets and 1$ cash to get you started without making any deposit. It says 88$ but you will only recieve 14 - 0.50$ Tix and 1$ cash. You have to pay a ton of rake to unlock the rest, but its a good way to test the software and games before you commit.

Id stick to these 2 sites. If your a better player and in a province that has it, then you could try the canadian gov site playnow.com , but there is not as many players there, so im assuming the games will be a bit tougher as there will be lots of regulars.

Good luck

^^^This:)

Every week there are 17 private freerolls and 2 money added micro buy-ins that you can play in as a FRC member.

That's just the regularly scheduled games. There are more that are not difficult to qualify for.

Not only for you Canadian, but for all the world that wants to study, I advise you to watch videos on YouTube, pay close attention to how the best poker players play certain hands and try to absorb the knowledge necessary to put into practice the moment you're playing poker. Have a lot of patience to wait your turn to be able to form good games, respect the variance, do not exhaust, learn to fold good hands at the right time to stay in the game to get to the final table, remember that our tournament it does not boil down to a couple of AA's, be cautious and good luck.

Thanks for the PokerStars school tip. Didn’t know anything about it and more free tournaments is great.

What about Partypoker?

AllinCow, I have played on at least 40 different sites over the past 11years. Many were good & even great at some point. Today things are much different and it really depends upon what your personal goals are. If you're just looking to muck around & start out at the lowest of levels, it is still probably a good idea to join up to a few different sites (in hopes of getting to play in a larger number of freerolls, etc.). But if you're looking to actually play poker in hopes of cashing out with prompt withdrawal times I would stick to Pokerstars, Partypoker & 888poker and I wouldn't bother with ANY of the others (aside from possibly A.C.R. for the CC games). IMO they're a waste of time.

Also, you might want to consider not signing up to some sites if you're hoping to play some real poker down the road so that you'll still be able to go for some first deposit bonuses/ promos.
