I select statistics options when I play, so I do not see the chat. But, when we are playing disk golf, we consider trash talking to be an art form. So, try to have fun with it and be creative. Maybe you can win an extra hand or two by manipulating the situation to your advantage.

Well I have had my chat muted because of language. I personally think if you can't take a little bit of shit talking online poker the game is not for you. I'v heard of a guy getting KOed in the parking lot of Casino because he trashed talked live and won from the tilt at a cash game.

If someone is rude in chat , I don't respond to him or pay attention to what he says . I believe that is the best way to deal with these guys , or else I might get distracted from them , either these insults are towards me or sb else , and play very bad poker .
If they behave very bad with terrible insults , I will report them ofcourse , which I have done it once with a ''guy'' who was insulting another using nazi vocabulary because he just lost by him..... .

I don't bother with the chat at all. Nor do I really want to get into a conversation with someone swearing or using other vulgarities.

Just play your game....otherwise you will fall into their trap of playing their game, which is responding to their chat.

Good luck !

I think trash talk is hilarious, especially when the people are actually playing really stupid and are getting angry about losing. The world has has some dark and sick people in it so if you can't handle some simple trash talk from someone you don't even know then all i have to say to you is suck it up and get a thicker skin.

once there was a good session and it worked well all day long until one stranger spoiled my mood in the chat ... and then I lost my spiritual balance and began to lose, and just refused to continue playing, and a year passed ... and I still feel hatred of that person. But on the other hand, he gave me a lesson, not under any circumstances not to include chat !!! it is necessary not to give such a lever of pressure, there is such a term. psychological abuse...when a person writes about skin color or insults your entire country or history, you want to smash his face. so in order not to provoke conflicts, I turned off the chat. and do not see the message.

I play through any stupid chat, nowadays, lol. I do remember playing at a Merge site about 9 years ago w/the smilies and quote bubbles this all-inner, sh!t talking goober fk w/a photo of Al Pacino as Scarface for his avatar started picking on me and my bigger stack. He was 2 seats to my right and I had him out-chipped 4 to 1. He put in a bet almost half of his stack and I went all in w/A's. He called w/Q's and flopped a Q for a set and immediately started "hahahahahaing" me and then an ace hit the river. The whole table erupted in lol's and such. I then quoted,"Say goodnight to the bad guy," and then they erupted again. Sweet justice.

I used to play at Bet365 when I lived in the states before Black Friday. I loved playing cash and tournament there.

I even won 2 trips to land tournaments on them. One in Monaco and the other in Barcelona. They were part of the Prima Poker Network. What ever happened to Prima Poker I wonder?

Anyhow there was one player on there who's handle was, Samir. He was a nasty SOB and would take any opportunity to start in with anyone in the chat. It was totally part of his game and he was good enough to get away with it.

I never let him under my skin because I saw what happened to many who did as he would tilt them and then stack them.

I dont think it is necessary or good karma to add this to your game.

Remember anyone that has the power to upset you has the power to control you.

I couldn't agree more. When I am thinking, I try to remember its an exercise in how well I react or do not react to it. Well Said!

You should be happy if someone starts trashtalking at the table. It means they are tilting and trying to unbalance others as last resort. You should never get offended over something said online because its irrelevant to your life. Just ignore it and focus on playing poker.

Hello_Of course, I am annoyed by players who are insulting me or others during the game. But honestly, I also understand that you should not pay attention to such trifles. I think it is better to concentrate on the game and pick up your part of the prize pool.

At first, I always turned off or blocked the chat. I do not do that anymore, because it gives me a lot of information about the players. For the same reason I never respond to chat that is directed at me, though.

99% of the time, I don't respond to trash-talk in chat. However, today I had to...

My aggressive style was criticized first. No big deal. I'm used to that. But when homophobic or other discriminatory language is used, I start to get angry.

I responded with plenty of comments about how weak, cowardly and stupid the other player was (very tight/conservative) and started taking down pots. He refused to go all in with me for a while and kept talking trash about my style of play.

Finally, he goes all in with KK against a weaker player and his kings get cracked. Half his stack was gone. So, I put a nice "HAAHAAAAHAAAA" in chat. :)

He tried to say he accidentally shoved and proceeded to tilt, shoving all subsequent hands until I called one and took his remaining chips. I think my last words to him were "oops" as I had beat him with some low connectors.

I feel justified/vindicated but also a little foolish since I allowed myself to get sucked into trash-talk. I'll probably just ignore all unfriendly chat going forward.

But what do you do? Have you caught yourself getting sucked into that mess before? Or are you able to just play through it?

Ahhh sorry, I like to talk too much at the tables!

I am following 4 simple rules when trying to abuse other players from the game :p:
1. Do not call directly the victim what you think of him!
2. Try to avoid homophobic sentences!
3. Attempt to make jokes if possible!
4. Let him think he is the one who is ruling the game ...

Eeeeeh, I am not playing ACR cause I may not :(

Hope the above is worth to others though :p

Could not agree more. This just shows they can't handle what is happening and everyone is running over them. If they are winning and trash talking, let them trash talk. You will take them down when the time comes.

Trash talk is a part every and any game I have ever played in my life. I had to learn to ignore it even when it wasn't directed at me.

Think of it like this; Internet bullies and thugs are here because in real life they probably had their lunch money taken by bullies and didn't get enough hugs as a child! In real life they wouldn't say anything like that for fear of someone making them chew their teeth!

Don't let it get to you! turn off chat if need be as suggested by others.

good luck!

I almost never respond . I look at the chat box as free information about players . You can tell alot about their play by what they chat and I don't like giving away free info so I rarely chat unless I'm trying to promote a particular image at the table .

Why didn't you just click on the icons that takes you away from the chatbox? You also could have disabled their chat and kept on pushing. Only thing that should matter is your game and getting yourself to the top. NO ONE else should matter.

I understand the aspect of an individual getting upset when their opponents are talking trash. I get it!!! That being said, If I were placed in the same scenario than I certainly wouldn't waste my time replying to that jibberish that is being slung at you. Even more, I certainly wouldn't waste my time reading the chat. There's a card game going on and I am going to use the maximum amount of my focus on it. I didn't come to talk. I came to play. Let your card playing ability do the talking for you. I hope this will help you out. Good luck!!

No Chat

When I play online the chat box is shut off. Frankly I don't really care what anyone has to say. I am concentrating on the game. I just don't pay attention to chat. If chat is shut off then I cant go on tilt. Good luck.

Stepping on people's toes and getting under their skin (at least when it comes to live games), is just part of the game for some people. Look at Negreanu, he does it all the time. Don't know if it applies to online games as well, but some may be trying to use it as strategy to piss you off into calling their premium hands.
