In 2020 many many people played or started to play online poker.
Because, they stayed at their homes.
It´s the big movement of poker.
However, many people went back to work, restarted to go out & many casinos restarted.
Therefore, many people don´t stay at their homes now.
How does that grabe you?

I mean it depends. From someone that's UK based it's still online poker for now. Would love to be able to go back to playing IRL, but I have absolutely no faith in our government right now.

If we're talking long term there's definitely still going to be a huge online playerbase in the future. I don't see that going anywhere.

Personally, I like having the option to choose.

For me, this is just another trend, nothing more. Poker trends are happening all the time, but I believe there will be new people online.

For sure the COVID-19 induced boom to online poker is over now. But games are still beatable especially with a bit of game selection. So overall I dont care to much about this. It was always obvious to me, that those golden times were not going to last :)

really hear a big increase in the poker game due to people staying at home and now it can increase even more because whoever entered and managed to win money will always be referring to friends

I think Covid opened up the doors to many things. Think about your typical recreational player/grinder who comes home from his/her 9-5 and plays poker for 5 or 6 hours before going to sleep. Now lets assume that person started collecting unemployment which we all know was more money than they were making at work; now that guy/girl is playing 10+ hours a day honing their skills with a much larger bank roll. My guess is that mid-stakes poker probably saw some weaker competition during the pandemic. On the flip side however, the small business owner who plays for fun and pretty much donates every night is no longer able to play so that decreases the number of fish to feed to sharks. Either way though I think poker is becoming more popular and there will be more weak players showing up each and every day. I see no reason to believe that I cannot be profitable unless I see myself as worse than most of the other players at my stakes.

That's right, during 2020 there was an increase in traffic in online rooms and it decreased in 2021 as everything normalizes.

While I agree with the statement this is also normal fluctuation in the poker market. People will also come back to it again once summer is over as well.

I think the momentum will continue into 2021 for many reasons, including accessibility to jump into game instantly, saved time to travel to a physical venue, lower stakes, and an adjustment and grown preference to play online from those that previously stayed away from it but were forced to during the past year and have grown to like it and not completely abandon it.

Exactly. There has always been a seasonal pattern with less people playing online poker in the nothern hemisphere summer. But that being said volume right now is the lowest, its been since before the "poker boom" almost two decades ago. And this is pretty much across platforms except for the asian facing networks. pokerstars, 888 Poker, partypoker and ACR are all seeing record low volume right now.

I cant argue the volume is low right now. I do wonder after a year + of Covid and things staring to open up in some areas of the world could be the reason as well. I admit I have played less the last month just enjoying so of the life I could not enjoy until recently again. We will find out in a few moths for sure I guess.

I think, there is that factor as well yes. It makes a lot of sense, that people want to catch up on outgoing activities, that they were not allowed to enjoy for more than a year, and therefore they have less time to things like online poker. The best thing, the industry can hope for, is realistically for volume to pick up just a bit after the summer.
