In online poker, you can probably earn money if you take it seriously, how to work all day. But if you have time for poker after work and household chores, then this is more leisure than earnings. At least that's the case for me in online poker 2021.

Why try to make money from Poker when there are easier ways to make money? Try working harder for a start, in some occupations you get paid a bonus for results, So the harder you work the more you make.
Poker is a hard game to master and in order to play well you need a clear, calculating head, working out the possibilities and probabilities of winning a hand, and even when you have done that, you can still lose a hand simply because your opponent beats the odds and suck's out on the River.
That's Poker, and there is nothing you can do to beat Lady Luck if she decides to put her Oar in. When it comes to money, it all depends on where you live in the world, and what a few Dollars means to the individual. Here in the U.K. I can win $20 in the CC $100 free-roll and I could have made that in an hour working, but the Tournament could take me 3 hours + to finish in top spot, So Why? Do I play Poker, Why do I bother? The answer is simple, I enjoy playing! Money is only an after thought.
Someone living in an Asian Country like China or india $20 could be a week's wage, so winning a free-roll is big money to them, and not to be scoffed at, So it is all relevant to where you live, and what that $20 means to the individual.
I play for fun and pleasure, the game gives me, I am not motivated by the money I can win.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Playing 20NL and winning 20BB an hour is a nice profit but to live on an as hourly wage is not happening in most areas of the world. Winning a tournament is nice but to make a living you made need to play $20 or higher tournament to make a livings.

Exactly. Its not that difficult to win 100$ per month online or even 500$, if you put in a lot of hours and play 4-5 tables at a time. But if you are looking for a "get rich fast" scheme, then online poker is not it.

There is always money to be made from anything you choose to do, even Scrappers make money dumpster diving for scrap metals and recyclables, all it takes is hard work and dedication to make it work,
Go on Twitch and watch some of the Poker Streamers, how they play, and they make extra money from Streaming, Lex Veldhuis is one of my favorite Streamers and has made thousands of Euros for charities etc.
Poker is harder, probably much harder to make a decent living from, you constantly have to study and polish your game play, and also be able to survive the down swings the game always throws at you.
Lex has one day a week put aside for study, and he has played for years in Las Vegas, and other places in some major tournaments, even appeared on "Late night Poker" playing against Daniel Negraneu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Helmut, among others on T.V. and he still plays on-line Streaming his Multi-table games.
Hard work and dedication, something I try to stay clear from nowadays, I did it for over 45 years, and now I am retired I want to have some fun.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

There is always money to be made from Poker, it all depends on how much hard work you are willing put into it, and what bankroll you are playing with.
Staying within your 1% buy in guide, if you had a $500 bankroll, then you are limited to $5 Sit and Go games, However with $5,000 you could be buying in for $50, it all depends on management of your Bankroll.
Also how many tables you are prepared to play, at the same time, I used to multi table a minimum of 4 tables, but even that is small in comparison to some top Pros, who might play as many as 12 games simultaneously, or more.
Poker stopped being fun for me when I was multi-tabling, so I stopped, it was too much like hard work to concentrate and juggle 4 games at once and when I realised I didn't want a living from playing Poker, and all I really wanted was to play a game I was happy to win or lose. Playing for small stakes makes it possible to have fun without it costing you huge amounts.

When the fun Stops, STOP! (I did)

The situation in the poker industry is getting more and more difficult, and there are fewer and fewer fish. Compared to tournaments with a large luck component, cash can give you more stable income.

Poker is changing, but you can earn money there as always. But it depends on you how you develop your skills, patience and psychology (many play well but fall into tilt):jd4::):jd4:

Over 10 years have dabbled with online poker. I play cash, tournament and sit and go. Playing cash can make 3BB per hour average. Tournament lose about 10% of cash every 30 hours of game time. Sit and go similar lose 10% of cash.

The reason I post is I enjoy the game but as a gamble to make money close to a waste of time. Cash making 60 cents per hour on 20nl and that's playing well. Are most players now playing more for fun and not to make money? Is cash games only way now? Been out of the loop online wise for a while. Thanks.

If you measure Poker by how much you can make per hour, then I would venture to say you are playing for the wrong reason's, Sure we all like to make money, from whatever we choose to do, whether it be gambling or Working in a job.
I was lucky enough to work in a job where I was paid a bonus for performance, so the more I did, the more I got paid, even when I became a post-man in my later years I was paid for performance, never the hours it took to do the work.
Poker is now my passion, and I play purely for pleasure, not to make money, but to enjoy the game and feel the excitement of the all-in shoves, and the little Victories I achieve when taking a player out.
Some people like to go to Football, Soccer, Baseball game's or even to the Opera or Ballet to get their thrills, I play Poker, not to make money, although it is always nice to win, but more for the pleasure the game gives me.
Yes I play a lot of Free-rolls, but I also play for cash when I am in the right frame of mind, it is not that important for me to make money from the game, I have a decent pension that makes life comfortable, and I can now enjoy my retirement as I want to.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Online poker 2021 money to be made?Reply to Thread

Hi bro! I'm close to your problem. It all depends on your skill. You can earn 0 per hour, or you can earn $ 50. If you want to earn money by poker, then you need to treat poker as a business. There are many ways to make money on the Internet, it all depends on your abilities. Good luck bro!

Online poker is not a place like 10+ years ago, where you could jump in to cash games and find 5 fish at all tables. I believe you can still make money, but you need to put effort and work into it. Plus, you really need to game select. I am from Pa. , we have pokerstars but limited to only players in 1 State. The first month or 2 it felt like the good ole' days. Haha, but when the free money ran out so did many of the biggest fish, I still have a winrate on the micro-stakes Cash and Mtt's are pretty soft, I just don't have the desire to grind out a living. I do think it is possible. If I was much younger and really was driven, I do believe I could earn a living. BUT that is no longer my situation, I am basically a recreational player who knows just a little about the game. :) . So the short answer is YES, you can still earn BUT it is not as easy as once upon a time. Good Luck, whatever you decide.

Poker remains a game only for recreation. You may always play and win important sums, which generates self-confidence in winning, but the shock is often stronger when an hour comes when you risk a large amount and lose

The only way to make money playing poker is to work hard. Every job makes money, even if it's a game.

I play poke purely for the entertainment factor. I have no desire whatsoever to make money playing poker.
