I've built a sizable bankroll many times from freerolls. I've turned around and lost it every time but built it just the same. Yes you can do it, you just have to really want it.
i agree you have to have patience i have run a bankroll up over 100 in the freerolls many times but end up giving it back:(

Before it was heard a lot that moderately successful players had never deposited a single dollar. This is due to schools that gave them initial capital on the condition that they train with them (I don't know if any of them succeeded, I particularly lost the money hahaha). Now it is more complex, although I would not say that difficult.

There are a variety of freeroll tournaments, either those of the halls, or those of external pages.

The great dilemma is how much should we or do we want to go, to venture into the real game?
I am a recreational player and I love Omaha Hi / lo, I would say that a reasonable amount would be at least $ 50

Right now I'm playing 2 private freerolls, let's see how it goes. In today's room, I won 0.07 if I entered equal prizes 3 times in 5 days, it would be 1 dollar, which makes the road very, very long.

Any freeroll expert to tell us about their experiences?
money won this year in freerolls and special events,
top 15 or so but the list has many many more.

Well you are in the right place.

I am able to make 100's from just the Cardschat freerolls every year, most years it is close to 1K.

Need to have a good sound strategy and a little luck as the field is tough. You make mistakes on the games here and the players (e.g. the sharks who posted above me post#28 and #11) will take advantage of it.

From the mathematical point of view even 0,07 are a trimendous profit, because of the 0,00 Buy in. Still like others mentionend before, time matters.

I did it, made a bankroll from freerolls over the last two weeks. Now comes the hard part...grinding it up while studying poker.

i am currently doing my own Zero-To-Hero Challenge on two poker sites

i start with nothing and play in freerolls to generate funds, then i grind up a bankroll from there

for me, i do not play any cash games, but that's just my own preference, i only play tournaments.
i think playing cash games is far too risky for my challenge, the reward-to-risk ratio of tournaments is perfect for it.

on one site, i recently hit a new bankroll high of over 700 dollars, currently at 625.

on the other site, i also recently made my two biggest scores to date and am now at 60.
i have been stuck at less than 10 dollars for a full year so it feels great to finally break out of the rut i've been in

its a slow grind, there are a lot of "close but no cigar" type of frustrating failures, but i am convinced that with proper bankroll management and with good poker skills, this Challenge can be accomplished.

The hardest part is just getting started... I've gotten over that significant hump on both sites, thanks to the generosity of site freerolls and of places like Cards Chat... from there, it's just a matter of good play and investing your time at the tables, because any poker player worth their salt should understand that the luck factor goes to zero over the long haul so if we can adopt the long-term view we should never have any doubt we can achieve our goal no matter how high we set it. Best wishes at the tables, and while I often say "good luck", we know we don't really need it! :)

Of course it's possible to build up a bankroll from freerolls but this will not happen over the night because it takes a lot time and effort..if you play multiple poker sites you can easy multitable them

It worked for me

I have been playing for a short while online but i myself have not deposited a penny and i have built a bankroll that hasnt been lost yet. I have to say that the freerolls are no picknick due to the variance playing with undpredictable players. Poker is won with skill and although you will hear a lotta players say it cant be done, but thats just cause they couldnt do it. Always improve your game learn from your mistakes and dont be afraid to make the correct moves even if you lose cause in the long run youll see you do make more. ITs POSSIBLE

I've made $350 on BetOnline. I got in the money from CC freeroll or one of the other that they had, then I played a few real money tourneys and won.
I've lost it all again on BetOnline, playing in the Casino.

I have also made $150 on CoinPoker I have $24 left, running real bad the past couple of days. People sucking out every time.

I have made about $20 on ACR but lost it using the spin to win trying to get into big tournaments.

I made $2 on N8 and lost that on the spin and gold.

So, it is possible. But when the RNG is not in your favour, it's tough.

I am sure it s possible to build up a bankroll from scratch.

I did it several years ago in the booming time of online poker and made a bankroll of over 500 $ in a year (started playing freerolls and when I had 50 $ started playing SNG 1-tables)
I learnt also a lesson in bankrollmanagement as I lost more than 500$ due to the fact that i kept playing instead of lowering in buyins when I had a downswing and tried to rewin my losses.
When I started playing poker again a few years ago I made a deposit of 50 euro s and started from there.
If you want to built up from nothing you have to play a lot of freerolls as
1. the prices are mostly not that big (often tickets)
2. relative big playfield with lots of gamblers
In the good old days there were freerolls on PS that were fully inscribed (8000 players) 30 minutes before the start

Patience.

It is possible but it is not as easy as you think. You'd be better off working a real job for money and then depositting than trying to build from nothing.

I started 5 mths back from 50 bucks not really freeroll , and turned now into over 4k roll in 2 challanges. 1st challange whcih is documented in bankroll challange section is sitting at 1500 from 50 bucks , the other one which is outside challange is sitting at very comfortably 1200 of my share . That other one entired from freeroll starting. so its entirely possible from scratch.

Guess for most players it s just the challenge to start from scratch.
Of course it s a better idea to work for your money. (unless you are a pro in poker)

Yes, you get to practice, and win without using your own money. It can become a reality check.

before freerolls had much bigger guarantee, like you had those on pokerstars with even 100 k guarantee, it was a platinum member monthly, something like that, but now freerolls are like 10$, or 100 $ at most, so I dont think nowadays you can make a bankroll in the freerolls, but in the past, it was achievable

Ever since I started playing , poker online i have always free rolled. I started so many bank rolls that way. I just started depositing a year ago. My favorite poker site was ultimate bet , absolute poker. Those sites I cashed in alot all from free rolling , so it is reality.

I think you can. But you have to know how to control yourself and not spend those dollars when you harvest something in a freeroll. Then it is in each one to know how to save the profits.:cool:

It's definitely not a myth but it's not reality for a lot out there either.
