Less tables means better play and concentration.
More tables means more money per hour. (if you beat the game)
More tables also means more volume and you go faster to the long run.
(you need (ten)thousands of hands and hundreds/thousands of tourneys ...at least... to see some results, and to determine if you are a winning player or not)

If you're in this to make $ and make it quick, online, then play multi-talbles, heads-up, $5-$10. You've just narrowed your chances of winning to 2 to 1. Good luck.

The way I see it is there are two ways to win at poker
1. Reads.
2. odds.
If your strong point is reading hands, play one or two tables at higher stakes.
If your strong point is a firm grasp of poker odds, play as many lower stakes tables as you can.
If you’re good at both, pick a site and experiment with both to find out which works best for that site.

Pretty much this. More tables also mean less risk of boredom. If you find yourself watching Youtube while playing or cold calling preflop with K5s because "its sooooted", then you should strongly consider to fire up another table or two. If you are an MTT player though, its natural to let the number of tables drop towards the end of the session, and if you reach a final table, its desirable to focus on that table only. Now is when, the big money is won or lost, and therefore boredom is typically also not an issue ;)
