I play mostly online as I don't have a local casino to play live unless I drive several hours. On occasion, I will get up to go to the restroom, get a drink or just grab a stretch. Has anyone else ever walked back to the computer to see yourself timing out to a pocket pair of Kings or Aces or anything playable in general? It seems to happen more often than not to me. I have caught a few before being folded but I wish I could have a few of them back. Only thing worse is losing a nice stack of chips the hand before a break in the tourney with pockets. Am I the only one?????
You certainly are not the only one, I once missed out on AA vs KK and QQ deep in the Sunday Brawl on Full tilt (back when full tilt was a thing, $260 buyin tournament) maybe there were 100 players left, it was pretty devastating.
The best advice I can offer is to time your drinking and eating so that you'll have to go to the bathroom on the breaktime of the tournament. If however you are playing cash games then just click sit out when you go to the bathroom, that way you get 2 benefits
1) You don't have the negative freeroll of seeing you missed a great spot
2) You don't feel the need to rush back to make sure you don't miss anything
It's important to plan these things out ahead of time and build those habits, because otherwise our impulses will be very much based on the 'can't miss a thing, make every hand count' mindset, which is great for the game but not so great for our wellbeing.
Hope that helps! :saint:
