I think online poker is more prone to cheating than live poker. The positive is that online poker rooms work daily to minimize these traps

IMO live poker is only safer if you're in a legitimate casino. I would never play for money in a home game with people I didn't already know and trust - too much risk of marked decks, collusion, and other cheating tricks.

Hi all!
Cheating can happen in both types of poker and they are completely different forms of cheating.
Therefore, just choose trusted game organizers.
Good luck at the tables)

It's easier to do it live then online, assuming that site is not involved (why would it be?).

Why is it dangerous to play online poker ?
Play without violating the rules of the poker room and you will not have any problems.
Online poker is more profitable to play than live poker, of course if you have a casino in the city, then it's probably better to play live poker))

You have to play in reliable rooms.
This applies to both live and online poker.

Safer? In a cardroom it really depends on whether folx wash/clean/sterilize themselves. Online it's aaallll you. Just kidding... Well, sorta.
As far as which is the better medium it comes down to convenience vs a potential instant payout. Do you wanna be able to play whenever you feel like it or do you wanna go and, as they say, "...Play some cards..."? I, personally, prefer a live game but I still like having the option.

live poker when compared to online poker presents a series of very relevant differences and with several cases of competitors who specialize in just one aspect.

Playing rhythm, routine, tournament structures and behavior are some of the main differences when it comes to live vs online poker. Both have pros and cons that fit different players' playstyles.

Both formats provide risk, the biggest concern from live poker is getting from the venue to home without being robbed of your winnings. A local gang was targeting high cash out players when they left the venue. Biggest issue online is you probably won't know if you are being cheating or not.

poker is a dangerous thing and not safe, think before you play, you need it, and suddenly you will win

I have never had to deal with cheating in poker. I think that on large sites you can play poker without any problems.

I feel (as has been discussed many times on many threads) the online sites are generally safe of cheating. You may feel like you're getting a higher instance of "bad bears" so to speak, but it's more likely an illusion due to the volume of hands you can play in a short period of time comparative to live play.
But I'll take everyone's word for that as living in a rural community in the UK, I've yet to experience a live game situation! In my eyes, online isn't safer, just the only option! 😁

Since the Infamous Black Friday years back and the collapse of FT poker - ive played more live than online and trust in that personally.
That said - as with most things, its situational and if you have a good local casino with reputable games and organisation as well as security, i feel happier in that environment.

You can play much smaller stakes online so for that I say safer online. You can't go to a casino and play poker for $0.10

Related to your question, I think that in online poker the probability of being cheated is higher than in live poker. Of course, there are a few crucial factors. However, I don't think anyone asking such a question would be playing poker in a backyard with gangsters. More likely is a casino or larger tournaments like the EPT. In such places there are cameras and the chance of being cheated is much lower, since the people also bear much more risk.
But that's the way it is in poker as well as in real life. There is no such thing as 100% certainty. You have to learn to accept this and make the best out of the situation.

It's really hard to say which poker is safer: live or online. In the second case, you are completely dependent on the computer and its program. Nobody knows how this program is set up and whose interests are in advantage including players. In live poker, especially private, there can also be unfair manipulation such as marked cards, shuffling a deck...

I only played live on cruises but I would fear winning big at a casino getting hit over the head to relieve me of my loot. I'm confident my micro stakes online cheating isn't an issue. Or is it?

I only play online, on verified and safe sites. My favorite sites are 888, pokerstars, unibet, BetOnline, SportsBetting, Americas Cardroom and partypoker. I feel completely safe, since I haven't had any serious problems for many years.
