You could listen to poker strategy videos.I say listen because you should always keep an eye on the table, you shouldn't get distracted too much. Its a never-ending fight with yourself to keep your mentality balanced during play.
I just surf the net or play another table. Problem with that is, you may not think it but when your not focused on the game, you miss info like players tendencies. I 100% notice a difference when I'm paying attention.
If you are really bored in online poker, a break would be good.
I don' t watch videos but i listen to podcasts (poker, chess) in my poker sessions.
Videos would be too much for me, i have to observe the game play, the players, stacks, blind increases etc.
+1 Yeah, I focus on the poker game (with few or no distractions) as well. If it is too "boring" for the op, then play a faster game format like turbo or hyper. I like the regular (slower) game speed actually. I am never really "waiting" because I am studying how my opponents handle certain situations; curious who is playing lots (or few) hands, who is open raising weird amounts, and which players seem like the regs at the table.
Sometimes, I'll try shuffling chips next to my computer (still need practice with this) or doing knuckle rolls with a poker chip.
p.s. I am into chess as well: who are some of your favorite chess sources?
music, watch a movie, roll a couple joints, pretty much whatever I can find. I hate just focusing on only the game because it can be so draining, especially if its a tourney on ACR with 40 rounds of late registration
boring? for me online poker is not boring at all I don't need to take breaks for this reason, it is always good to practice with meditation to improve concentration, check what motivates you to play and evaluate if you really like to play poker
While playing at a poker website I'll play in different games and not just Holdem to keep my interest up. Also will play in some sit & go's as well other tourneys to keep my interest up . Playing at cash tables for me anyways keeps my attention.
While not playing poker I do things such as yard work, garden, go fishing, play golf, watch TV etc. Seems there is always as well something to fix or work on around the house so have a list of items to keep me busy.
I play poker a lot of the times, when I am bored. It helps keep me from being bored through this covid 19. I am glad we can go out now, since we at stage 2. Working helps with it now, cant wait until stage 3 more things will be open to do.
I'm hyperactive, so I can't do only one thing at time, I use Opera GX, and do a video pop-out and start watching videos, in a small fixed window in the corner, and also I have my rubick's cube that I shuffle and un-shuffle again and again and again ....
Music , Netflix , Youtube , add another game , such as a cyclone on ACR or zoom on stars , watch a movie from my hard disks , read a CC thread , etc . Mostly it's a little boring until you get ITM or deep , then it's awesome
Online Poker is boring as can be. What do you do to keep from loosing your mind?
I tried countering this more recently by trying to be more involved in all the hands. Not playing all hands, just taking mental notes on what happens.
Also, when I am in a hand, I am asking myself why I am going to do what I am about to do. Does it make sense? If so, why? What are the factors? This not only gets you out of the boredom zone, but it makes you a better player, in my opinion.
What's boring is when you play like for an hour and get poor hands. Deal, muck, deal, muck. I think I have a playable hand when I get like a 8-7 suited. 99 times out of a 100 it's not playable after the flop. I"ll try an A-3, same result, even if I hit the A. Usually lose chips. That's boring. Not my day.
