I believe that there will be another poker boom, and it will be when tons of women take up the game! A woman at the wsop ME would go a long way to help this, and a woman winning the whole thing would be huge!

This is a great point. Women is a big and relatively untapped pool of potential new players. More women in poker would be a good thing for any number of reasons. Still, I think media attention and good marketing is crucial to attract these players.

As for entirely new markets opening up, I'm pessimistic. I believe bans or restrictive regulations will be the norm. We live in very conservative times. Also, other gambling options like slots or sportsbetting are easier to learn and offer more immediate kicks than poker. I think those options will have a stronger pull, and they are also more profitable for the companies.

Don't think we will anything close to what we did in early 2000. We had people flooding to casinos and to the internet. We have lost the American market of online and less are playing live for any significant amount of money.

Goldrush is over and a few internet sites are now ghost towns.

We strive for a civilized society. I think that in the future, gambling will generally be banned.

I believe that poker will always be at its peak after this 2000 boom, because there are always new players, new teams, new things to learn. So I believe that every year there will always be a new revolution. Now that part of banning casinos in some countries may be more for the part of money even if governments forbid it, because the "games of chance" can only be theirs.

The only thing I expect in poker are more and more problems due to increasing restrictions.

I think there will be no poker boom in the near future. Unfortunately, current trends do not cause a poker boom. And little has been done for the poker boom. Mainly due to the catastrophic greed of poker sites, which usually go to casinos and slot machines.

There should be a poker boom here with all the people that have to stay home until this covid 19 is over.

I hope that once they legalize it in the US the online poker providers will afford to offer better promotions. Maybe, in time, it will grow back to what it used to be.

I must not agree with your opinion. Since gambling is consider as a sin in more religions and we know that in catholic countries that is not taken seriously, but at the muslim is forbidden I would say that there will be a drop in many businesses including poker. Fear from the death will rule the world. Old wise people say that the vineyard is kept by the fear, so we all look how modern man is ready to do something and take responsibility for his life. There is massive panic for food, goods, because people fear that tomorrow maybe there will be no more, we slowly but steady became robots. Go to work, eat, sleep and repeat all that, maybe in the past they where nothing different from today, but they were not dependent from the system. They known how to produce food, how to make clothes, how to feed your family from your own with not so much need from the others. Today people became weak and breakable, just look what the fear from this virus made. More people will suffer after from the fear what is coming rather then the virus itself. Man's brain is very vulnerable and people are desperate, they start to lose faith and for those who believe to something its last moment to decide on witch side they belong. I'm talking about religious people, who trust in something bigger then then and in the same time they are afraid and panic. Tough time will separate believers from non believers. We will survive this, it's a general probe from what coming next, be strong, think a little further and start your own business until you have time to do it. Don't belong to system, it will shatter like glass one day. Sorry for a little off topic, but I feel need to right this post. Hope for good health to all on forum and stay safe !

There will be no boom , on contrary the online poker will evolve into a game that will be played n the manner similar to roulette or black jack.
Live poker will became more mature but with fewer options to actually earn the money, similar to tennis , fo example. There are plenty of people playing or watching tennis, but only few are doing it professionally for money.

It has been recognized in recent years as a mental sport. I think it is expanding more and more. Many new platforms that offer the service and advertising of poker tours help to have more acceptance. Playing poker becomes more attractive and personally I think he has a Boom again.

Hardly a new poker boom, it is constantly evolving and new players are coming but nothing like any boom, and as several members mention government regulations will be increasingly strict.:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

I don‘t think there will be another poker boom. The shutdown will increase the number of online players temporarily. More women in poker would be great, but I don‘t see this happen.
