I took a desperate toilet break and my daughter decided to help me out when she saw I had decent cards and play a couple of hands for me while I was afk - I had a decent stack when I nipped out, came back and I'm out of the tourney! WTF! Needless to say I wasn't pleased

Has a friend or family member ever done anything similar to you?

That's an uber big no,, no. You can't let others play your hand or even discuss your hands. You shouldn't be on a conference call with your poker coach when you're playing the Sunday Million for example, lol.

It's a you made a mistake and shouldn't do it again or talk about it type of deal, lol. Just realize you can't let others play your hands for you, lol no matter what.

I didn't LET her - I just went to the loo and came back to find she'd just took it upon herself. Have to say I wasn't best pleased.

Do you close down your game/pc/laptop whatever when you step out of the room? I doubt it. Just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience.

I wasn't discussing, colluding or anything of the sort, neither was she playing poker, nothing - she was just sitting in the same room as we often do - her on her phone, probably on Facebook or whatever she does. We do not have space in this house for me to lock myself away, nor did I even think I had to! I just came back to my desk to find my chips gone and her laughing coyishly saying, "oh sorry, thought I'd help out. It looked like you had decent cards" - wow! I wasn't happy to say the least.

Thing about poker is there are going to days where you are running good & then wham, it all goes to s***, happens to everyone. If you hope to succeed at this game you are going to have to get that ego in check. I mean man, trying to blame your kid, sheesh.
Just kidding, :D. Haven't had the experience personally but used to see it happen at a nightly game we had here before Black Friday. Couple of times the kids actually improved ol Dad/Moms results. :)

Tell them that's not for them and/or lock the screen and have an easy quick password that you easily get back into. Hopefully you telling them not to play with it is enough, though, lol.

If they want to use the device to look something up quickly then tell them you're using it right now and will give it to them in few minutes then you could minimize the program and or close the table but keep the tourn lobby open or so you can click back into the action when they're done.

That still cannot happen. NO ONE ELSE CAN PLAY YOUR HANDS REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE. I understand that it was a prank but these sites do not mess around with that stuff.

LOL I'm trying to help you but if you don't believe me then email customer support at your site and tell them your story and tell us what they think of your story, lolol. :) And no, don't email them, lolo. That's a bad attempt at sarcasm.

My real point is that what you perceive as harmless might be taken differently by the folks in charge so I would humbly advise you to take the matter seriously.

GL and hope they don't wreck anymore of your tourns!!

such actions can be recognized as a teamplay, I would not advise anyone to do this, but relatives should just be warned about such situations so that they do not play for you

I don't see it as harmless, although luckily I didn't lose anything as it happened to be a freeroll, but I could have. Worse, it could have happened at a cash table and then I would have lost money.

Minimizing could help, I guess, and I had never thought I needed to. But your comment about locking the screen is interesting, how would one do that? I've never come across that, but it's interesting for more than just to protect my poker funds! I'm not all that technical - oh wait, it sounds like something that would happen on a phone or tablet. I play on my PC - can you do it on there?

Hopefully, like you say, the fact that I wasn't too happy with her anyway is enough to stop it happening again anyway, but the only other thing I can think of is switching off the monitor. Not exactly a concrete method if someone was determined, but maybe enough to stop temptation which I think is what happened here?

Have to say though, it does illustrate that online isn't as secure as the casino - they'd notice if she sat in my seat there!

Not human family members, but ... my 4 cats always seem to become hyperactive simultaneously whenever I'm deep into a tourney, probably because they're deprived from any attention I would give them otherwise. They're like little furry angels the rest of the day, but when Poppa stares at that glowing rectangle for too long, they just can't help themselves getting antsy all of a sudden.
