Hi everyone ,

I was a regular at micro stakes but since i move to germany i stop to play poker because of the gaming rules here. Now im starting again and im not updated about the tables anylonger. I wonder what tables are the best to return after a few years not playing, if 9 or 6 seats regular cash games or zoom? where it is easier to grind?

Regards and thanks in advance.

To resume the game, the zoom will be acceptable, since most players use this version of the game as a more dynamic one.

I think cash games are better because of hand analysis, in zoom and fast game you can't analyze your opponent's hand..

I've said it before and I'll say it again... zoom poker is so fast what you typically run into is people folding over and over until they see something with strength early on. Which makes people harder to beat as you go.

I have an insane amount of hands in my PT4 software and I can also tell you my bb/100 hands is much lower than at cash tables. I imagine it has to do with the above reasoning. There is something very comforting about sitting at a table of the same people. You learn things about them you can exploit. When you are dealt 5 new players every single hand you are playing the randomest of random. None of which is good for you decision making.

Although I do make more bb/100 in cash games (1 table) I can play 3 times the hands in a zoom game. The difference of how much lower my bb/100 is on zoom means nothing because I am churning out 3times the hands.

Take it for what it is worth. These are just my observations.

I don't like zoom. I play them if there's no option.

When I'm short on time, I prefer the zoom. But cash games are also very interesting because you can study your opponents' moves.

To start getting your fundamentals right, i would choose zoom because you play actually readless and are more focused on yourself. Once you`re feeling comfortable with your game i would switch to the more challenging (but pure poker) cash game.

I prefer cash games. Opponents have stronger hands in zoom games

I respectfully 100% disagree with this. I am RAZOR thin on profit over an incredible number of hands in zoom games. In $0.01/$0.02 and $0.25/$0.50 stakes in particular for me in cash games I am absolutely crushing.

You need to play both cash and zoom to understand which format is more comfortable for you. Advice from outside will not help without your own practice. The main thing is to understand the main trends of the field in order to start gaining.

My point was more related to the fact that in the zoom format, due to the many hands and the few reads, you get to your strategy faster and learn certain fundamentals faster. Of course, it is not as profitable in the medium term and I am 100% with you on the win rate. Especially for a winning player whose win rate increases with increasing reads.

Once you've played ANY kind of volume at all on fast fold tables (Z00M, Rush, SPEED, FastForward, SNAP, Blitz, etc.) you'll have a ton of reads on the player pools.

Generally speaking, the 'fast fold' tables are tougher than regular tables. There seems to be a higher % of regs. vs fish on them and on most sites and at most times of the day, the game is played much more aggressively.

fwiw, I've played a few hands on Fast Fold tables.

In my opinion the two formats have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Fast tables give you instant practice of your skill and your improvement. Specifically your not sitting for long periods folding when you're getting dealt unplayable hole cards. Playing those tables will strengthen your game far more quickly.

But stay low stakes. The number of professional players increase the higher the buy-in level you buy into. $0.01/$0.02 tables tend to be mostly recreational players. You have to play all day to build a reasonable stack. Not to say the players are bad players but they're there mostly as entertainment. Not as a daily job.

Move over to the cash tables when your back to your previous skill level at low stakes and slowly climb the buying levels until you are comfortable with the skill level of those you're playing against.
