Hello.
I have a huge bill from cancer surgery on our Sheltie. She's doing great now, recovering. I would like to find out your opinions for what game type and style play to use to build a bankroll that will help us pay off that expense using a time frame of 5 months. I appreciate your poker online suggestions. Thank you.

Hey Dano,

Sorry to hear that about the bill, but happy to hear she's recovering well.

The best format to play will be the one you have the most skill in.

SNG & Cash games are both great for building a bankroll & clearing deposit bonuses

If I were in your shoes I would play the format that made me the most money in the past but increase the volume 1.5-2x.

Important thing to do though is not to force things or rush things too much as that can lead to making mistakes.

Having a solid plan and sticking to it with patience is usually what pays off!

Poker top

Studying and practicing, when I started playing poker at the end of 2018, I heard about studying poker and thought that there is no need for two cards when I get it right and I bet and when to make mistakes is fold, the problem that most of the time you will make mistakes, you you have to know how to win the pots even when you make a mistake, to know which bords to hold which to check and which to fold and that only with a lot of study.
That is the difference between good players and the best players in the world.
I usually review the final tables on youtube, which has the best players and with the cards revealed and I noticed most of them even without hitting they are always betting, the difference is that they know when to bluff.

In my opinion what you need to do is find a second job so you can earn the money to help with the bills. Playing poker is not the best choice for getting that money.

Whatever game type you are the most comfortable and competitive in. Don’t play really high stakes going for the big payday. If you like MTT ‘s I would play just low-medium stakes but play more often.

You don't think that would make you a mite predictable? You're playing 4.5% of hands, so approximately one every three laps of full ring. And it doesn't seem to be contingent on position, and ranges should always be position-contingent. Effectively, anyone who is watching what you're doing would just setmine you, and you'd be giving reverse implied odds by playing your hand face up. They would only continue with something which beats your range.

Well let s say that there are safer ways to get an extra income (work)
Unless you have the skills or can invest lot of time ... you can make a decent living with it...
If you have to start from zero ... 5 card limit draw... is an option
1. relative nice number of fishes there
2. strategy is quite simple to play it profitable

I took the advice of other good players who told me to start playing fewer hands ... look and behold, it helped!

Danoscar hope you are doing fine now.
I do not know if you have proven to have certain decent pokerskills in the past.
If you do not have them you ll need to read and learn and practice.
If you have the skills it s just a matter of having a certain starting bankroll and chosing the right buy-in (and of course a game that you have the skills of)

Keep us informed what you are going to do

Cheers

that it`s true . i start to play poker 12 year`s ago . i win 200.000$ in my first 4-5 years . you want to hear the final ?
i work just for poker in my last 4 years ( every month minimum 2000E deposit ) . i was also in jail because i tried to make money for poker . ;)
i`m not bad players but i can be serious just 1 week after that i start to be boring . the big problem it`s because i can`t put break , i can grow up easy 1000$ to 10.000$ but after that it`s a problem whit bankroll management ( i don`t know what it`s wrong whit me , maybe i want to be millionair in just one night :joyman:) !! and special whit video slot !! ( 80% always are gone in casino )
In my opinion you cand grow up very fast if you play tournaments on PS whit 5 - 10 - 20 $ buy-in
Also you can try partypoker cash game . you can make easy 750$ per month just playing cash game 25NL 4h per day ( can be more if you have affiliate your account )

Hello danoscar .... Please don't rely on poker to pay your bills! It could make things a lot worse than it already is. Please think carefully ...

The best strategy is to play GTO and a good style of play is tight aggressive grip, you can play sit & go less variance and you can structure a better game strategy than in the mtts where there is a lot of game variance.

The most profitable is the tight-aggressive style of poker. This means that you only play good hands. The few hands you play you play aggressively. You play in position. In position means that you have to act on your opponents. So you have more information than others. Playing in position gives you more control over the pot. With a medium hand, you don't want the pot to get too big. With a very strong hand, you want to get all in if possible. You can do this more easily if you play in position. In the CU or BU you can play more hands than UTG. If you have a drawing hand you use pot odds to find out if you are going to continue playing that hand. You can also semi-bluff with a drawing hand. Depending on the situation, it may be better to play a drawing hand passively or aggressively. You should know this situation.

Glad your Sheltie dodged the bullet
Hello.

As for the rest of this post:

* Playing desperation money: Check
* Setting a time frame: Check
* No plan: Check

This is a recipe for disaster. There are only a few players who could put the rent money on the line and play their A game at all times (Jack "Treetop" Strauss was one). You set up a Poker 'roll with funds that you don't need for immediate expenses so that losing it won't leave you living under an overpass. You can't guarantee you will make the money you need for the medical bills in the allotted time. The variance can be fierce at times, and it may take more then 5 months, especially if you hit a hard patch of runbad,.to make that money.

If you don't know which game, and you haven't worked out a strategy before the first card is dealt, then my suggestion is to take the money you were going to play and put it on the Don't Pass line and pray for deuces and treys. If the shooter gets a point, pray for sevens.

No limit Hold 'em tournaments. I believe this is the game that can get you closest to your goals but don't turn down any other opportunities if available (I mean different than poker e.g. second job or side business)

I don't think there's a best place to actually win at. Since Omaha8 is such a niche format, I'd probably study that format as much as possible and enter some guaranteed $ tournaments and try to win there.
