If I did not like playing online poker then I would not be here. Better chance of winning the lottery than making a fortune playing poker though.

The only reason I play is so I don't have to go busk infront of liquor stores with my guitar.

I'm feeling like maybe I should just go back to busking though lol.

I'm just curious if anyone actually likes this game. It's very repetitive and addicting and time consuming, and requires patience and discipline, and the ability to quit when you are getting emotional.

And it's almost like, who likes this lol?

idk, there are things I like about poker, but a lot of things I don't like about it. I almost feel stupid engaging in it, because it's like, yes I am winning, but I am also losing, because my time is probably better spent elsewhere.

And what about all the losing players? I used to be one, and I would get so mad at this game. It's like, are people actually having fun?

I almost feel like someone who is selling drugs, and profiting off the fact that I am exploiting a drug addict. Except I am exploiting a gambling addict and/or a degenerate.

It's weird, I almost feel like a predator playing at best, and at worst I am extremely tilted and feel like I am wasting my time.

Idk, maybe being to philosophical.

While I respect your freedom to bring up and discuss any suitable topic for discussion you desire, I'm not sure broad, sweeping assumptions equate to being overly philosophical... :)

To ask on a poker forum, run by poker lovers for poker lovers, whether anyone actually enjoys the game strikes me as far from philosophical at best and trollolololling or flammatory at worst.

This is just my opinion, nothing more.

In a free, democratic, capitalist society with civil liberties populations have the ability to make mistakes for themselves. Choose whether they'd like to do one thing or another.

Professionally and recreationally.

I'm sure there are countless members, mods, champs, guides, admins, experts, specialists, pros, amateurs, vets, crusher-hatchlings and all other sorts on cardschat who enjoy knocking out some blunderbuss* like a baseball batter sending one outta the park on one or the other of the above levels...

I'd be willing to wager on it with you... :deal:

Not because I'm a degenerate gambling addict who doesn't know when to stop.

Because cardschat has helped hone me into a poker player with a very specific set of skills, I can tell when someone's raising light...

*Of course I like to think I speak for all by saying hopefully the blunderbuss is only staking what they can afford.

For the record, I'm not trolling, I would love too see lots of people saying they love the game. It would make me feel a lot better about playing. I legitimately feel guilty sometimes playing.

I've thought about this for awhile now. I like playing sometimes, other times I hate the game though.

Maybe it is fine and the guilt isn't warranted.

You shouldn't feel guilty, you're playing against consenting adults who have chosen to be there, almost always.

Anyone with gambling problems have ample avenues for help, can self exclude & all sorts.

Based on the arguments you're presenting one could say any sport, game, competition or profession is unfair, cruel and exploitative for the same reasons.

It's just not the case.

Anyone with any kind of addiction is the only person who can take the first step to solving their problem, no-one else can do it for them.

Just because there are alcoholics it doesn't mean we should burn down all the bars...

I should know, I'm a 3+ year recovering addict!

If you insist on burning down the bars, can we take all the booze out first? :flute:

Also the furniture, art, decor, pets..

Actually, rather than burn them down (bad for atmosphere) can we dismantle them brick by brick and rebuild, like, iunno...

Schools & hospitals & stuff?

Then move all the booze back into those building for the new staff welcoming parties, waheyyyy!

I love to play poker online. Not for any one particular reason, though. I've always liked playing card games and poker is the ultimate card game and hold'em is the ultimate form of poker; although PLO is catching up in popularity. It has a lot of aspects of deduction similar to detective work, strategies for certain situations like chess, and a pretty cool social aspect. Poker fkng rocks!

Yes, I like to play poker, but I understand what you mean. Online poker can be really repetitive and frustrating, specially when you play many hours/day and when you have to win money playing. I only play as a hobby so I if I’m tired of the game, I just quit and come back when I feel like playing again.

I thoroughly enjoy the game. Luck helps in the short term, skill and study prevail in the long term. What's not to like?

With that attitude, absolutely!

For the record (now that I've slept)..

I LOVE poker!

It isn't without pitfalls and dangers but, that's life..

Horses for courses.... Anyway, why can't you busk and play mtt's at the same time?

I've thought about doing exactly that but not quite good enough on the guitar yet, haha..

Sooooo true! I've won a lot more money on the slots than I have at poker.

Or is everyone just chasing the dream? Like who likes playing lol.
I like playing all types of games of skill and chance. If I am not trying to make money, I am trying to better my skills.
I play word games, more than a few different type of card games, some for money, some not for money.
I think a lot of people are "chasing the dream", I like to challenge myself in getting better. Most people when knocked out of a tourney will close the table fast and start a new one. I am guilty at times, lol. But what we all "should" do is force yourself to watch the rest of the tourney. That way you do less stupid mistakes and also can write notes on the remaining players.
