Well I think everyone already knows the main advantages/disadvantages of each game mode, online or live, the topic being covered countless times already but in any case, this does not mean that some certain aspects cannot be added depending on the experiences lived during the both sides of the game. I do remember that I myself did a comparison of the two game modes here on CardChat in the past, with all the pros and cons involved, so there would be no point in repeating them again in this thread.

As a humble personal opinion, I think it's not about ”who better to play” because there are many factors that determine the game mode that each player prefers. But I believe that if you really want to become a better poker player you also need a live experience in your life, in a professional atmosphere, at least once, there you find true diversity and quintessence of poker. 😉

Keep a good vibe and all the best guys! 🙏

Hi.
I only play online. This is the most convenient option for me. I have never played live, but in general I think that playing live is more difficult than playing online.
Good luck :)

They both have their perks. I make more money in live, but it's way more convenient online

As for me live poker is more exciting. You strain less in front of a computer or phone screen, communicate more live, feel the emotions of the players. Well in general the atmosphere is better.

At first glance, the games are similar. But in fact, there are so many differences that they are completely different games. Poker players who used to play only through the Internet or in a real casino often get nervous before the first game in a new place. Offline: poker tables are filled in the evening or at night, so it is unlikely that you will be able to play in the morning and afternoon. Most of the games are played on Friday evenings and weekends, so if you play regularly, you will have to tightly tie your schedule to the weekend. Online: the game is available around the clock - in cash games at the right limit or in tournaments with the right buy-in, they always play.

It is defiantly better to play online

I know a lot of players who love live play, it seems very time consuming to me though lol, but probably fun once in a while, online is just easier and more convenient to most players

For ease and convenience I prefer Online. But live is much more exciting, and needs more concentration.

Online is much more convenient and there are fewer problems with opponents. Offline is nobler when real people play along.

Who better to play poker - online or offline?
Assuming we're talking about players who do one or the other exclusively most people say the general online pool has a higher skill level because:

  • Online players play significantly higher volume, so gain experience much faster than live. There's also a much more defined skill tree where a live player might have to start out playing $70-$80 games, where as an online player will have to be winning at several lower stakes before they reach that point.
  • Online players tend to be more theory oriented, so make better decisions based on quantified information and value versus 'tells'.
  • There are more online players in general, so there's more room for a wider skill range across games where the better players can progress.
  • Live games tend to have a much higher rake, so good players that game select will focus on the lower rake structures available online.
  • Players can learn how to play online in microstakes without risking larger sums of money, so there's more chance to develop skills without losing a lot of money.
I imagine skill levels get closer at the higher buy-ins, but if you're looking at someone playing $100 online games going to a $100 daily at their local casino it won't even be close.

Online players play significantly higher volume, so gain experience much faster than live.
Not only experience, but if you are winning player, playing more means more profits.
If you play online you can easily make around 7k hands daily, grinding without sweating (check Hands per hour, besides I heard about challenges, where players were crushing around 50k during a day, with some marginal profit). 7k x reasonable 5 days per week (8 hours per day), makes it 35k weekly, 140k monthly, 1.68 mln hands per year. Now, playing live, you can't multitable, you are getting around 50 hands per hour FT, making it 400 hands per day, more then 14x less then online. That means playing one year online equals roughly to 14 years playing live.
Of course live you can use tells, there are more fishes and so on, so this can kind of balance itself. Kind of. Unfortunately though variation is everywhere...

I like online poker more, it's easier to count the pot and you don't have to hide your emotions. But at the same time, in an offline game, the interest is when you play with friends and acquaintances.

Good afternoon!
The online format is more convenient, but when playing live poker, you experience completely different emotions :)

Something to consider when playing online vs live...the online players have access to software that assist them in decision making and doing the math, while live games depend upon the players abilities and memory and a lot of luck.

I have never played offline, but I think it is better to play online since you can play more tables at the same time and also you are like while you play

Online is a good way to start (master the basics and the technical aspects of the game). As it can be really hard for a beginner to manage both those technical aspects and psychological ones which are essential in live game.

We need to adapt the variations between live and virtual poker. Same game, different techniques.
I think exactly the same thing, online poker is very variable, it's a roulette wheel, one day you're up and the other day you're down, it depends on how the game treats you.
