Hey all, I am going to fabulous Las Vegas next weekend. I am staying at Treasure Island. It will be the first time I have stayed at T.I. I am going with the family so this trip isn't all partying and gambling, but I do want to hit a tournament on Saturday the 14th. I am not trying to play in some bankroll busting mammoth buy in tourney. I just want to play in a Vegas tournament. Anyone have any recommendations?

I am going to use this thread as a place for me to compile all the tournaments that catch my eye as possibilities for the day. I am going to add links to specific tournaments that I find on poker Atlas. Then I can come back to this thread, bring up the link, and compare them side by side.

Maybe depending on what I have to play with, this one would be fun. It would be to bucket list things in one shot. I could play in an offical wsop game and in a Vegas tournament.

I think I have already ruled out the WSOP game. I figure as of right now one of two things will happen. I will either donkey out super fast and be disappoint, or on the other hand I might last for awhile (long enough to miss out on spending any Saturday time with my family) and still miss the money. Both of which would be disappointing.

I have although decided to save some money over a little bit of time, and I will take a trip to Vegas just to play in such an event in the future. Perhaps within this year. We will see how finances and poker both treat me.

Treasure Island has a tournament on Saturday. It might be easy to roll out of bed and hop on over to the poker room for this one. The only thing is there is no guarantee pay out. If no one shows up I might just be playing heads up for $80. I guess in and of iitself that might be fun....

I think what I really want to look for would be a $1-2nl table. In reality I probably won't stand to see any of my money back if I enter a tournament, but if I sit down at a $1-2 game there is a much better chance that I walk away with a +ROI. Hell if the tables are right and the poker gods are smiling on me I might even be able to double the $200.

The Planet Hollywood tourney is pretty good BUT you'll want to review the structure. The last time I played that tourney, the blinds started out at 100/100, so we were in the thick of it right away. No time to feel out the table through 25/50 and 50/100 blinds.

Harrah's has a nice little poker room, too, with a decent $1/$2 cash game.

Good luck and have fun!

Circus Circus has an easy $1/$2 game too. A bunch of fish who go to a cheap resort and who have watched poker on TV, and they think they can play.

Alas, It Was a Complete Fail....

So Vegas was fun. It turns out the Circus Circus doesn't have a poker room anymore. The last time I went to Vegas the Circus Circus did have a room. They did spread a $1/$2nl game, and the buy in was $100/$200. I went with $200 in hand just to play poker. Every single place that spread $1/$2nl had a max buy in of $300. Although I could've sat down with $200 I didn't want to buy in short so I passed on the poker game. Instead I ate a hell of a lot of buffets, and I drank like a fish. I walked so damn much I feel like my foot is broken, and I wore a hole in one of my shoes.

It was pretty fun. The heat was something else though. Even at night, and the humidity made it even worse. There was a thunder storm while we were there. I am already planning my next trip lol. I told my wife I am starting to save up now for a poker exclusive trip. We will not take our kids. My wife and niece can do their thing, but I am going strictly to play poker. There was no planing in this last trip. We just had money. We were about to take off on the 4th of July and head up just for the day, but once I looked into the costs of everything we decided just to go a few weeks later. There was very little planing involved in this last trip. In about a year I am going to have my tournament picked out. I am going to be preregistered, and I am getting a room where ever I am playing.

Did you see that the WSOP is going to have a few smaller buy in tournaments next year? They say they want to make it more affordable for people to enter. The plan is to have bigger turn outs is what I read. I am going to try and get in on something like that.
